The OAC is located at 641 E. Forest Street and is part of the Oconomowoc High School campus. It is located in the south central part of Oconomowoc immediately west of Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital, one block west of Summit Avenue (Hwy 67) which is the main north/south artery into the city.

Mission Statement

The Oconomowoc Arts Center mission is to provide patrons and artists of all ages, a professional, cultural and educational experience with the highest quality programming opportunities possible.

I’m sure I speak for all of us when I say “What A Year!” We are looking forward to getting back to normal and presenting our 14th season, full of amazing entertainment and visual arts for everyone to enjoy! Our Main Stage, Cabaret Café, Special Events, and Oconomowoc Area School District shows and concerts have something to offer no matter where your interests lie. The professional visual art exhibits in the OAC Lobby Art Gallery and student displays in the Imagine A Day Art Gallery will also bring art to life all year. Beyond that, the OAC provides a home to several district and community groups for performances, ceremonies, services, educational programs, and more. I want to thank all of the performers, artists, patrons, donors, students, volunteers, teachers, and staff that help us provide high quality programming with hard work, passion, and commitment to this remarkable and vibrant community. OCONOMOWOC ARTS CENTER | 2021-2022 SEASON

OAC Info No Food is permitted in the theaters

except for beverages sold at the OAC concession stand, with the cap or cover on, or where allowed in the lobby area.

Where Can I Sit?

All 759 seats in the Neudecker Main Stage Theater offer excellent views and acoustics. Our box office can be of service with any questions you may have. The OAC is ADA compliant. We have a limited number of wheelchair accessible seats. Please let the box office representative know that you will need accessible seating at the time of purchase. Our circle driveway allows easy drop off and parking that is next to the front entrance. Wheelchair accessible doors and no steps to the front doors make entering and exiting simple. A gradual slope in the theater allows for easy and safe admittance.

Bringing Children

Patrons are discouraged from bringing any child younger than the age of 6 to performances, unless that particular performance is geared toward or appropriate for younger audiences. Parents are encouraged to contact the box office for information about the appropriateness of a given performance for younger children. Booster Seats are available. Check with an usher for assistance, first-come-first-served. IF YOUR CHILDREN ATTEND A PERFORMANCE WITH YOU, A TICKET WILL NEED TO BE PURCHASED FOR THEM. This includes children of all ages, including infants. We are introducing a Lapsit ticket (not available for all shows) for young children (infants and toddlers) so they can attend age appropriate performances. PLEASE NOTE: parents are responsible to supervise their children when in the theater and lobby.

The Little Theater is also ADA compliant. Since this space is used for a variety of different set ups from general seating to a cabaret theater, the number of seats depends on the type of show. Again, the box office can answer any questions or aid you with accessibility concerns.

When to Arrive

It is recommended that patrons arrive approximately 20 minutes prior to the start of a performance. This allows for time to park, check your coat (a free service at the OAC), use of the restrooms, and finding your seat without feeling rushed.

Late Arrivals

Out of courtesy to the performers and audience, patrons arriving after the performance has begun will be seated at the discretion of house management – possibly not until intermission. Seat selection may not be available 1/2 hour prior to performances.

Good times never seemed so good! “I Am He Said” Celebrating The Music Of Neil Diamond

“Matt is the perfect Neil Diamond, and the band was killer…so good, so good, so good! We will definitely present this show again. Thanks Vee Boys!” - Meyer Matier / Big Top Chautauqua, Bayfield, WI By Rebecca Seymour Don’t miss this heart touching tribute show that celebrates the music and life of pop music legend Neil Diamond on the OAC’s Main Stage. Starring Matt Vee, nephew of 1960s popstar Bobby Vee, the concert also features a 12-piece band, including his cousins and bandmates Jeff and Tommy Vee (sons of Bobby Vee) and wife Julie Velline. “I’m so proud of this show and we are really looking forward to coming to Oconomowoc! There are so many loyal fans of Neal Diamond and they cannot get enough of his music. This is not a Vegas show – we pay a lot of attention to the instruments and offer a very authentic and respectful version of his music,” said Matt. With songs like “I Am … I Said,” “Sweet Caroline,” “America,” “Cracklin’ Rosie,” “Song Sung Blue,” “Brother Love’s Traveling Salvation Show,” and so much more, Neil Diamond has produced musical hits spanning nearly six decades, selling more than 130 million records worldwide. A prolific songwriter in the mid-60s, Diamond also penned songs recorded by everyone from Elvis Presley to Deep Purple, including the Monkee’s blockbuster hit “I’m a Believer.” “He started out as a writer. There are so many interesting stories and inspiring bits of information about his career and behind his songs that I weave in throughout the show. My uncle Bobby knew Neil, so there are a lot of family connections,” added Matt. This celebration of the iconic superstar’s rich musical legacy has touched the hearts of sold-out audiences across the country. “Our show is joyful and spontaneous and full of energy. We love doing it because it is a real celebration of Neil Diamond,” Matt explained. For more information about “I Am He Said” visit www.mattvee.com.

Four Guyz in Dinner Jackets® -

Call Us Old-Fashioned: The Supper Club Tour By Rebecca Seymour The OAC is the place to be as Four Guyz in Dinner Jackets® return to take you on an “OldFashioned” road trip with a double shot of nostalgia in their brand-new show! Looking for a swell time out with your buddy ol’ pal or a reason to give your girl a twirl? These Guyz have got you covered as they celebrate the iconic music and retro-style from the 50s and 60s. Known as Wisconsin’s premier “Doo-Wop” group, Reginald T. Kurschner, Joe Fransee, Tommy Lueck, and Aaron Schmidt return to the OAC for the sixth time as Lake Country area audiences can’t seem to get enough of their stirring vocal harmonies, endearing humor, and captivating choreography. “We’re really looking forward to coming back to the OAC. The venue is so beautiful, and we love performing on both the Main Stage and in the Cabaret Café. It’s always a blast!” said Four Guyz vocalist Tommy Lueck. Backed by their live band, the fabulous foursome’s old-fashioned style of entertainment promises to take the audience back to a time when musical giants like Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, and “kings of cool” Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr. of the Rat Pack added their swing, swagger, and 18-karat charisma to the stage. “There’s just something special about that time when everyone was getting dressed up and going out to supper clubs, and the Rat Pack was the hippest group around. Our new show is a nostalgic nod to that simpler life when we took more time to eat and listen to good music and socialize with friends,” said Lueck. Four Guyz in Dinner Jackets have been harmonizing together since 2003, tracing their humble roots to Milwaukee’s Broadway Baby Dinner Theatre and an amazing three-month-run of “Forever Plaid.” Since then, they’ve written six full productions chock full of 50s, 60s and 70s music favorites, with a little bit of ‘shtick’ thrown in for fun. Could it be? Yes, it could! Something’s comin’ … something good!

The Neophonic Jazz Orchestra brings the music of West Side Story and more to the OAC’s Main Stage By Rebecca Seymour Step back in time as the Neophonic Jazz Orchestra takes the OAC’s Main Stage for an unforgettable afternoon of big band and Broadway music at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 13. Founded in 2010 by longtime Madison drummer, Rand Moore and Stan Kenton alumnus, Joel Kaye, this premiere 25-piece big band, jazz ensemble features the area’s finest large-group jazz musicians, including vocalist Angela Babler. In addition to the saxophone, trombone, trumpet, and rhythm sections typical of big band jazz, the NJO also boasts a section of four mellophones, a brass instrument with a timbre similar to a French horn. NJO’s collection of instruments achieves what jazz historians and Kenton enthusiasts call “a wall of sound,” a music style as exhilarating as it is rare in today’s music world. Known for its dedication to the Stan Kenton Orchestra’s unique instrumentation, NJO also pays tribute to the timeless compositions and arrangements of Johnny Richards, Kenton’s longtime friend and collaborator. Richards, a genius in his own right, was responsible

46

OCONOMOWOC ARTS CENTER | 2021-2022 SEASON

for some of the Kenton Orchestra’s greatest masterpieces, including his 1962 Grammywinning album, Kenton’s West Side Story. NJO cofounder and music director, Joel Kaye studied music composition and arranging under Richards, and played saxophone in the Kenton Orchestra in the early 1960s. He is featured on six Grammy-winning albums, including Kenton’s Adventures in Jazz. “I grew up in New York City and as a kid I would go to Birdland jazz club on 52nd and Broadway to listen to Johnny Richards’ band. I joined the Stan Kenton Orchestra when I was in my 20s. It was thrilling to play with him every night. In today’s world you don’t get to hear this kind of music and we are dedicated to keeping it alive,” explained Kaye. The first half of the NJO concert on the OAC stage will feature selections from “West Side Story.” After the intermission, the band will perform a variety of Broadway music arranged for orchestra.
