A B O U T L I G H T O P E R A WO R K S LIGHT OPERA WORKS is a resident professional not-for-profit music theater in Evanston, founded in 1980. The company’s mission is to produce and present musical theater from a variety of world traditions. Such works include American, British, Viennese and French operetta, classic American musical theater, as well as contemporary fare. Since its inaugural season in 1981, LIGHT OPERA WORKS continues to be a leader in the United States for the presentation of these historically important and theatrically delightful works of art in productions similar in size and scope to their originals, in modern productions with professional artists and full orchestra. LIGHT OPERA WORKS is a member of the Illinois Arts Alliance, League of Chicago Theatres, National Alliance for Musical Theatre, the Evanston Chamber of Commerce, Chicago’s North Shore Convention and Visitors Bureau, and is a participant in ChicagoClassicalMusic.com. For a listing of LIGHT OPERA WORKS’ repertoire, and information on past productions, visit our website at www.LightOperaWorks.com. Campagnola, Prairie Moon and Trattoria Demi are the preferred restaurants of Light Opera Works. Special thanks to Prairie Moon for sponsorship of the I DO! I DO! opening night reception. This program is funded in part by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.

A F E W WO R D S F R O M T H E A R T I S T I C D I R E C TO R I DO! I DO! is a journey through happiness and sorrow, good times and bad. The original production starred Mary Martin and Robert Preston, and was the first two-person musical ever performed on Broadway. The show was written by two men I’ve been lucky to have worked with and call friends, Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt, the creative duo behind THE FANTASTICKS and 110 IN THE SHADE. I’ve always loved working on their shows. That pleasure is doubled when joined by such talented performers as Larry Adams and Cathy Lord, both so accomplished and bringing their life experience to the characters of Michael and Agnes, as they travel through 50 years of marriage. I hope this musical makes you laugh, I hope you’ll identify with Michael and Agnes, and I hope, at times, you’ll be deeply moved. Rudy Hogenmiller Artistic Director
