Setting up your FonGenie Service

This quick start guide is intended to help you set up your FonGenieSM account after completion of the sign-up process and make sure that your account has been set up correctly by making your first test call with FonGenie. If you need a more detailed instruction, you may refer to the FonGenie User Guide that is available in the “Support� section on your FonGenie account page. At this point, you have completed the 4 Step FonGenie sign up process at the FonGenie website, and have reviewed and confirmed your sign-up summary (Step 4 of 4). You should also receive an email confirmation at your email address you provided during the sign up process. Keep this for your records. Initial Setup for FonGenie 1. Select: “Start with an example FonGenie”.

The process of setting up the FonGenie

service is made easy by following the

intuitive menu. Please select the second

choice in the Initial Setup called “Start

with an example FonGenie”.

Note: You can always return to this

window by selecting “Initial Setup” in the “Welcome to FonGenie” window whenever you sign in onto your FonGenieSM account.

2. Select a template from the list that is most appropriate to your business.

You will now see a list of templates

for different business types. Each is

a unique template that has been

designed to more closely represent

the need of that business type.

If your particular business type is

not on the selection list, select the

closest or a generic type. All are

intended to be edited.

Your FonGenie Account User Interface 3. Customize your greetings and menu options in Basic Account page. You will notice that you are now in the Basic Account page of your FonGenie web interface and that the text in the menu fields has automatically been populated using the information you provided during the signup process. When calling your newly assigned FonGenie telephone number, you will hear greetings, menu options and responses typed in the Basic Account page. Please note that all of the text can be edited and personalized. The screenshot below shows two distinct sections that you need to carefully review.

Greeting, this includes the “Greeting” field that is usually a static welcome message; and “Post Greeting” which is intended to be dynamic and used to post information that change, like daily specials.

Menu, this is for choices that you give to your calling customers. All the “Menu” fields are heard by the caller after the “Greeting” while the “Response” is heard only if the caller chooses the corresponding numeric option. The “Action” field specifies what FonGenie should do after playing the “Response” to the caller, and “Reporting Label” simply serves as a label to identify the actions in the FonGenie analytics and reporting.

Please read all the information in the fields to make sure that they are all correct. Edit where it seems necessary.

Note: Pay a special attention to:

The information in the “Post Greeting” that is played following “Greeting”. Based on our experience, “Post Greeting” works best for announcing specials and promotions for your business. Please make sure they are short and up-to-date. If “Action 1” or any of the other “Actions” is set to “Transfer to Phone”, please make sure the telephone number is valid and reachable.

Once you review and revise all the fields, click “Save Settings” to save all changes or to keep the current content. This also needs to be done before navigating to any other page in the account.

4. Test your FonGenie account. Test your FonGenie account by directly calling your FonGenie telephone number that you chose during the sign up process. This 10 digit phone number, that also serves as your account ID, can also be found on the top right of your account page. Please make test calls to hear the sound of your greetings, menus and responses typed on your Basic Account page. By default, FonGenie will greet callers with a Male Voice, but you have the option to choose a Female Voice as well.

5. Using FonGenie for your business Once you are satisfied with your FonGenie setup, you will now have to make a decision to use your newly assigned FonGenie telephone number as your primary business telephone number OR if you are an established business, you are now required to set a call-forward from your existing business telephone number to your newly assigned FonGenie telephone number. To enable call-forwarding, you need to enter a code from your physical business telephone that receives incoming customers calls. The widely accepted call-forward code is *72. Please follow the simple steps below:

Pick up your business telephone and dial *72 followed by the 11 digit FonGenie telephone number you chose. Example. *72 1 650 200 4400.

Depending on your local telephone service, you will either hear a tone or beep to confirm the call forwarding has been successfully enabled or you will hear your FonGenie greeting.

From any telephone, please call your business telephone number to make sure call forwarding is working properly.

If this instruction doesn’t work, you will need to verify the call-forwarding steps with your local telephone company as the procedures may vary or your business does not have a call-forwarding services, which needs to be ordered from your local telephone company.

Note: To disable call forwarding, please pick up your business telephone and dial *73. If using FonGenie with your existing business telephone number (E.g. 650-965-3189) set to call-forward to your newly assigned FonGenie telephone number (E.g. 650-200-4400), please do not enter (650-965-3189) on your “Transfer to Phone” actions from the Basic Account page.
