1969: the production of organic fertilizers starts in Roverchiara in the province of Verona, deriving exclusively from the powder version of humified manure,successfully utilized in agriculture, hobby industries and in the compost sector. 1972: the company moves to a new plant in S. Pietro di Morubio (VR), covering a total area of 50,000 sq.mt. 1976: the production of organic fertilizers from pelleted manure begins. 1981: from the initial 10,000 sq.mt. of built area the plant subsequently increases to 13,000 sq.mt. 1986: the plant was fitted with a system for the demolition of airs and odours, unique of its kind in Italy for this type of application. 1988: the production of organic-mineral fertilizers begins, by uniting the organic matrix from manure together with the chemical-mineral matrixes (sulphur, ferrous sulphate, magnesium sulphate, potassium sulphate and others).

1992: the built-up area of the plant is expanded from 13,000 sq.mt. to 20,600 sq.mt. 1993: the production of a specific line of fertilizers begins for the semi-professional and hobby sector. 1996: the plant is enlarged. A total closed area of 30,600 sq.mt. is reached and with the purchase of a new building area, the total surface amounts to 80,000 sq.mt. 1999: the production of liquid fertilizers begins in packs of Kg.1 – Kg.5 – Kg.6 – Kg.20 Kg.80 – Kg.200 – Kg.1000.


HISTORY

2000: the production of granular organic-mineral fertilizers begins, in addition to pellet fertilizers. 2001: the new technical-commercial and administrative offices are built with an ample parking place for visitors and motor vehicles in general. 2002: the manufacturing division is expanded with the installation of new equipment and machinery, with a 30% increase of productive capacity. 2003: ISO 14001 certification is obtained. 2004: the production of fertilizers begins in small packs of Kg.1 – Kg.3 – Kg.5 – Kg.6 – Kg.10 Kg.20. 2006: new packaging plant for 400-500-600-800-1,000-kg big-bags. 2007: new wastewater treatment plant. 2009: new processing method for manure in compliance with EC Regulation 1774/02.

2010: new plants: automatic tubular packaging machine and new exclusive system to protect pallets from rain and wind. The "bandage" is replaced with a single "hood": the nylon film is always transparent and moisture retention is avoided. 2011: plant expansion with a new warehouse of 5000 square metres used for raw materials. Installation robot for pallets (the first anthropomorphous robot used in a fertilizer industry in Italy). New laboratory for analysis products and raw materials. New meeting room for visitors and customers. 2012: installation second anthropomorphous robot for pallets. New automatic packaging machine, with bag coil, for water soluble and special fertilizers. 2014: OHSAS 18001:2007 certification is obtained. 2016: opening new commercial offices. AIAB certification is obtained. Extended packing department with new machineries and construction of department 8 made of 1,300 sq.m. 2017: opening of Center of Plant Nutrition.

MISSION FOMET spa has manufactured and merchandized special and natural fertilizers for professional agriculture since 1973; it must be remembered, however, that the first experimental tests were started in 1969. The philosophy of processing and developing its own products has always been the application of natural methods and systems in an industrial context. Methods which today still foresee the controlled withdrawal of organic matrixes from manure, the processing of same with a multi-month monitored dessicationconcentration-humification treatment in environments completely covered and stanched, with the consequential formulation of multiple fertilizing products suitable to satisfy the most varied and difficult needs of the land. Above approach, which is continually pursued, has offered the possibility of considering the proposal of its own fertilizers as a pure and simple contribution of nutritional units (on the other hand a fundamental aspect for a regular growth and production of crops), without neglecting a more extensive and equally fundamental point with respect to ground fertility. Over the years, therefore, the concept has been amplified and extended in the use of new organic matrixes and manure, maintaining, however, the same guarantee of authenticity. Indeed FOMET SpA intends to realize products which give a biological activity to the soil, together with humic components,

thereby contrasting the ever-increasing productive decline of soils, their progressive destructuration, together with their growing difficulty in production. Therefore the entire product range includes the most qualified choice between organic, organic-mineral and remedial fertilizers, for conventional, integrated and biological agriculture. Likewise, one may also choose between powder-flake, pelleted, granular and liquid products. In particular, the optimal use of these products permits the following: Gradual release of nutritional elements (N,P,K,Mg, trace elements) thereby avoiding sudden imbalances and guaranteeing a constant growth of the vegetative structure. Possibility of fertilizing also during Autumn, without losing nutritional elements due to rain-wash. Intervention also with respect to physical fertility of soil (due to products containing organic matrixes); above certainly has a positive effect for a better assimilation of trace elements. Over the years, FOMET SpA has acquired a consolidated technical experience of support with respect to the use of its fertilizers; it organizes meetings for bothdiffusion and demonstration purposes, together with guided visits c/o its plants. It collaborates with various research institutes for the development of its own products. Training is carried out through schools and groups of technicians.


ABSTRACT The European Parliament and Council Regulation (CE) No. 1774/2002 of 3 October 2022 constitutes the benchmark standards for managing animal byproducts (ABP) not intended for human consumption. The Regulation sub-divides the subject into three different categories (categories 1, 2 and 3), and for each of these lays down precise rules for transport, processing and/or disposal. It also classifies the plants that receive and process animal by-products according to the specific activities they carry out and defines technical-management requisites for each type of plant. The regulation also lays down that in order to carry out its activities each plant must be “authorized” by the competent authority (Italian Regional government), which gives it an ID code and delegates consequent controls to the Local Health Service Organization in the territory where the facility is located. This paper analyses a system for processing the material and checking process parameters in the establishment of F.O.M.E.T. S.p.a., S. Pietro di Morubio (Verona), a company that produces organic fertilizers using manure (category 2 animal by-product), in compliance with the requisites of Regulation No. 1774/02, and in particular those in Appendix VIII, Ch. III (requisites applicable to manure, processed manure and transformed products based on manure). The processing method used makes it possible to achieve the time/temperature conditions established for manure (70°C for at least one hour), also ensuring that concentration restrictions are observed with regard to Salmonella and E. Coli parameters. In addition, suitable instruments are used for continuous monitoring of the temperature range and to check uniform heat distribution through the material during processing.

COMPANY DESCRIPTION F.O.M.E.T. S.p.a. operates in the production and sale of fertilizers used mainly in agriculture and hobby gardening, as well as agricultural cultivations that employ methods requiring organic products. The plant occupies an area of 72,000 m2 which contains four buildings dedicated to production (manure processing, raw materials storage, unfinished and finished products) and an office block. For its production of fertilizers the company collects approximately 30,000 t/yr of manure (mainly fowl droppings with a residual quota of cattle and horse manure) and 30,000 t/yr of other materials (e.g. iron sulphate, urea, sulphur, calcium carbonate etc., later incorporated into the processed mix). The company has been ISO 14000 certified since 2002.

TEMPERATURE RANGE The illustration on the left shows an example of a temperature graph during production. The temperature shows a rising trend until it reaches 70°C for at least one hour (as required by Reg. 1774/02), both before (probes 1 and 3) and after (all three probes) turning. The illustration on the right is a graph for another production cycle during which temperatures featured a more irregular trend than the previous one. Temperatures remained below 70°C for a long time and only after double turning (i.e. material advancing along the shed and then retreating) did they start to rise until they exceeded 70°C.

CHECKING UNIFORM TEMPERATURE DISTRIBUTION This check is made by placing heat-sensitive strips at random inside the pile of material being processed. Such strips irreversibly change colour when a temperature of 71°C is exceeded (see photo on right). The strips are identified by a progressive number and the date of issue. They are distributed in the material accumulated in the fresh manure unloading area (2 every 2 days for each store), enclosed in a plastic can which is easily found. The strips are recovered during sieving and each one is recorded on a special form when it is found.


PROCESS PROCESSING CONDITIONS Manure processing takes place in two closed industrial sheds with pumps to create a vacuum (numbered 1 and 3 in the plan on the right). Each shed has an area delimited by a tarpaulin for unloading fresh manure (see photo top right), isolated from the rest of the shed, and an area for unloading processed manure (see photo bottom right).

PRODUCTION PROCESS

TEMPERATURE CONTROL

Manure is processed by a “continuous” system, as shown in the diagram above. The material is unloaded from the transport vehicles in the fresh manure unloading area, isolated from the rest of the industrial shed by means of a tarpaulin which can be raised and lowered: down during unloading and raised only for turning operations. An operator uses a rubber coated blade to heap together the different loads received, mixing the material with that already in the loading area so that it becomes homogeneous and use of the space available is optimized. At the end of this treatment the processed manure is sieved: the fine part (under sieve) goes on to produce compost and the rough part (over sieve) goes back to the beginning of the process.

MICROBIOLOGICAL PARAMETERS Appendix VIII, Ch. II, A of Reg. 1774/02, establishes that: • the concentration of E. Coli in samples taken at the end of the process shall have the following requisites (1) : n=5, c=5, m=0, M=1.000 in 1 g. In the case in question the concentration of these micro organisms was assessed at three different steps in the process. As can be seen by the data in the table, the concentration of E. Coli evolves from particularly high values in the fresh manure to values below the detection limit on material half-way through the process; • the concentration of Salmonella in samples taken during and at the end of storage shall have the following requisites (1) : absent in 25 g, with n=5, c=0, m=0, M=0. Also in this case, the concentrations detected are within the regulation parameters. The analysis methods used to determine these two parameters are: ISO 16649-2:2001 for E. Coli and APAT 20/2003 for Salmonella.

FERTILPOLLINA® / Features: • As far as fertilizers from fowl droppings are concerned, Fomet S.p.A. has once again opted for the humification type. The land microbic deficiencies are only compensated with the addition of selected vegetable and animal residues, especially if fermented, thereby favouring humification of cellulosic substances (straw, chips, etc.). • To this respect and thanks to modern microbic studies, it has been established that the undeveloped organic substance is mainly responsible for the following transformation: • sulphates and nitrates, present in the fresh excrements of farm birds, are respectively transformed into sulphites and nitrites, both toxic elements for plants; • antibiotics and sulphamides, contained in modern feeds for birds (heat-resistant), eliminated in animal excrements, are indigestible both for plants as well as the earth; • the bacterial flora of the ground is drastically reduced with considerable nitrogen losses, as in order to digest the cellulose and lignin parts present in fresh fowl droppings, not matured, the micro-bacteria need nitrogen and therefore take it from the ground itself, impoverishing same; • acetic and butyric acids are formed, reducing root development of plants.

• The initial nitrogen release comes from the protein vegetable origin oil cakes, to satisfy the initial needs of the crop’s vegetative cycle. Regarding such, we can certify that this matrix does not contain any genetically modified organisms. • The nutrition proceeds with the mineralisation of the feather meal with a slow effect thanks to the presence of the entericcoated proteins that require a more prolonged microbial attachment. • Then the last of the three components is activated, the horn-hoof mixture which also contains entericcoated proteins with a more complex structure and even longer transfer times. • In depth losses due to percolation are reduced to a minimum and surface losses due to the product being washed away are also reduced, thus ensuring more rational savings and a positive impact on the underground aquifers. • There is a positive effect on the microbe life of the soil as the components are both of animal origin (feather meal and horn-hoof mixture) and of vegetable origin (oil cakes) thus supplying a sub-layer by means of the activity of a wider range of micro-organisms.

ECOFERRO® 250 PLUS / Features: It is obtained from two fertilizers, selected humified manure and iron sulphate, whose well known characteristics are enhanced by their simultaneous presence. • It prevents and cures ferric chlorosis, the result of an actual lack of iron in the soil or impossibility of roots to absorb same, due to an excessive presence of limestone. • Therefore it is necessary that iron is protected from the possibility of being immobilized in the soil and the best protective action is carried out by the humified organic substance. • The numerous tests carried out, together with the direct experience of many farmers, prove that fertilization with ferric sulphate, combined with the application of stabilized and humified organic substances, improve results as far as prevention and cure of iron lack is concerned.

USED to counteract sodium (Na) salinity: Sodium has good hydration properties. It absorbs water and expands the dimension of its atom about 10 times that of nonhydrated sodium. In sodic soils the Na+ cations bonded to the soil colloids hydrate immediately when the earth becomes damp. This hydration concatenates the colloids so that they unite and form a crust on the soil; when the earth dries again it cracks on the surface as the colloids suddenly separate. This causes problems for preparing the soil, germination, root development, etc. In addition, the mineral elements are less readily available for growing, due to the high pH value.

CORRECTION of sodium/alkaline soils is carried out by washing BUT ONLY AFTER REMOVING THE SODIUM WITH THE AID OF CALCIUM, SULPHUR AND ORGANIC MATTER. DOSES AND METHOD OF USE: The quantity to spread varies from 1,000 to 2,000 kg (1-2 tonnes) per hectare (in the open field) according to the specific state of the soil, the overall fertilization plan, the plants and their irrigation cycle. When spread along the rows, approximately 500-600 kg/ha, on the basis of the next fertirrigation plan. Do not allow the product to come into contact with the plant roots. • The perfectly balanced association between elementary winnowed sulphur and humified organic substances allows us to intervene effectively in order to improve the physical, chemical and biological characteristics of the soil. • The majority of Italian soil has problems deriving from organic substance deficiencies and from a pH that is too high (> 7). In such conditions the blockage and insolubility problems of many fertilizing elements that are essential for cultivation development assume alarming proportions, in particular regarding phosphorous and microelements. • The ideal pH gap between such elements is between 6 - 6.5 and 7. The absorption speed of the nutrients by the vegetable elements depends on the pH; usually anionic elements, including nitrates and phosphates are absorbed more quickly in conditions of weak acidity. • Sulphur is an excellent corrective agent for alkaline soils given that, once it is distributed onto the soil, it undergoes a sulphuric acid bi-oxidisation process and it contributes to balancing the pH.

MANGUSTA® / Features: MANGUSTA® contains in the one balanced formula the principal nutrients required to grow fruit and vegetables: Nitrogen (N), Phosphorous (P2O5) and Potassium (K2O). Naturally contains the principal trace elements: Iron, Boron and Zinc. HEAT IS NOT USED to dry the product (no kilns or hot air). The production process blends organic and mineral components through natural fermentation over 9 months. The product is the result of the careful blending and subsequent reaction between the various elements without the use of preservatives or binders. The final product is a very dry, easily applied pellet. Once in contact with the moisture in the soil or after watering the pellet expands and gradually breaks down in the soil. The organic content is 80% (every 100kg of product adds 80 kg of organic content to the soil) and has several functions: • plant nutrition (mainly as a source of organic nitrogen and trace elements) • protection of mineral components blended with it; it is "humified" organic matter, stable and rich in compounds (humic and fulvic acids) capable of binding added nutritional elements • this means the fertilizer cannot be "leached out", and makes it more effective and suitable for use even in winter and spring • adds and stimulates biological activity in the soil, a crucial function for good, ongoing root suction Specifically, the organic content consists mostly of cattle manure, collected from stables where cattle are bred on bedding, with added manure from poultry also bred on bedding. The manure is stored in a pile and over a period of about 9 months undergoes a routine process which includes drying, concentration, stabilisation, sanitisation and humification. This process produces a living "organic base", rich in bacteria that are useful to the soil (approx. 1,730,000,000 CFU/g as aerobic bacteria, 1,370,000,000 CFU/g as anaerobic bacteria plus ammonifiers, nitrate reducers, cellulosolytic bacteria and schizomycetes). Two mineral components are then added to this base to raise the phosphorous level and introduce potassium (sulphate only) which also provides sulphur trioxide (SO3).

LEOPARD® / Characteristics: • LEOPARD® is available as uniform cylindrical pellets, with an average diameter of 3-4 mm and an average length of 4-5 mm, is very dry and easily applied. Once in contact with the moisture in the soil or after watering the pellet expands and gradually breaks down in the soil. • The overall organic content is 89% (every 100kg of product adds 89 kg of organic content to the soil) and has several functions: • plant nutrition (mainly as a source of organic nitrogen and trace elements); • protection of mineral content mixed with it; it is “humified” organic matter, stable and rich in compounds (humic and fulvic acids) capable of binding added nutritional elements; • this means the fertilizer cannot be “leached out”, and makes it more effective and suitable for use even in the autumn-winter period as well as spring; • adds and stimulates biological activity in the soil, a crucial function for good, ongoing root suction Specifically, the organic content consists of: • cattle manure, collected from stables where cattle are bred on bedding. The manure is gathered in a pile and over a period of 9 months undergoes a routine process which includes drying, concentration, stabilisation, sanitisation and humification. This process produces a living “organic base”, rich in bacteria that are useful to the soil, approx. 1,090,000,000 CFU/g as aerobic bacteria, 860,000,000 CFU/g as anaerobic bacteria.

APPLICATION

• Protein powders as a further source of organic nitrogen and phosphorous plus two mineral components are then added to raise the phosphorous level and introduce potassium (sulphate only). BROADCAST APPLICATION WITH 5-15 CM TILLING DEPTH Best results are achieved by applying the fertilizer before final tilling, ensuring the product is buried before sowing or planting.

Is a unique formulation that contains all of the main nutritional elements necessary for cultivation. Its production DOES NOT INVOLVE any kind of heat drying (the use of ovens or blasts of hot air) and involves the blending of organic and mineral matrixes. This process is the fruit of an accurate blend and subsequent reaction between the various components without the use of preservatives or binding agents. The different forms of Organic Nitrogen, which are released by the manure and the proteinic meals allow for a gradual and progressive release of the nutritional element (mineralisation), in particular: • The manure component is released rapidly, thus satisfying the initial requirements of the crop. • The proteinic meal component on the other hand is released slowly, following the plant through the remainder of the vegetative cycle. UNIS® / Features: • UNIS® is a fertilizer whose formula includes all the main nutrients necessary for plant growth. As it is produced WITHOUT processes of desiccation (by means of ovens or hot air injection), the organic and mineral substances it contains combine together perfectly. This process is the result of the careful blending of the different components and their subsequent reaction, with no addition of preservatives or binders. The final product is pelletized, very dry and easy to spread. • UNIS® dissolves in contact with soil moisture, rainwater and irrigation water, releasing its nutrients gradually. It contains a high percentage of Organic Substance, which provides nourishment to the plant (especially as a source of organic nitrogen and microelements) while protecting the mineral components mixed with it. As a matter of fact, it allows the formation of compounds with mineral nutrients, which reduce the occurrence of insolubilization reactions in the soil. Moreover, it is absorbed by the plant slowly, as the mineralization processes take place gradually. The different types of Organic Nitrogen, released by dried manure, proteinic meal and dried blood, guarantee a gradual and progressive availability of the nutrient (mineralization); more specifically, dried blood is a “fast-release” component which provides all the nourishment the plant needs during its early stages of development; proteinic meal, instead, is a “slow- release” component which follows the plant throughout the rest of its vegetative cycle. Owing to these properties, the release of the nutrients adapts to the needs of the plant in its different development phases. • Thanks to its content of Phosphorus, the use of UNIS® is especially recommended in all the pre-sowing activities (for extensive cultivation) and/or pre-transplanting activities (for horticultural cultivation) in order to improve root development. It is also well-balanced for the vegetal development of any species of trees. The Potassium contained in UNIS® comes only from sulphate: as a result, this fertilizer is extremely suitable for plant species requiring the absence of chlorides and sodium. The product is also enriched with 6% Sulphuric Anhydride, which acts as an acidifying agent in the soil around the roots.

The ideal dose of UNIS® depends on the fertility of the soil and the type of species grown; therefore it is always recommended to: - read the soil analysis of the land, considering especially the pH value and the type of texture (sandy, silty, clayey); - collect information about the main characteristics of the species being grown. To obtain the best results, the fertilizer should be spread before the last work phase, letting the product penetrate into the soil before the sowing or transplanting activities. The molecular composition of the product contains most important nutrients necessary for the first stages of plant growing after seeding (corn, wheat, sunflower, etc.) and/or during the transplanting operations of open field crops or fruit trees. NITROGEN CONTENT: The product contains nitrogen from organic and mineral origin, which support vegetative growing with different nitrogen release periods. On the other hand – to promote and optimize root growing AZOMAT® NP 10.18+8S03+15C+0,06Zn contains completely water soluble phosphore (P2O5) in concentration of 75% of the total phosphorous present in to the product. • FERYSOL® TOP 31 is an absolutely innovative product in the sector of fertilization because of the quantity of soluble iron it provides. Thanks to its stated 31% Iron percentage, its formula contains a very high quantity of iron which dissolves in the soil and is made available to the plant. • This product must be used only by mixing it with compost or spreading it on the soil. It should not be used with water or by sewage irrigation. • Microgranular product (size: 0,5 – 1 mm) whose main components are iron (sulphate) and a stabilizing additive; iron sulphate MONOHYDRATED molecule. • It remains stable in time even for many months if kept in its original packaging, without lumping, crumbling, oxidizing, or losing its effects and chemical properties. • It does not release bad smells and moisture when stored in a warehouse; it can be mixed with other microgranular and granular fertilizers, as well as fertilizers in flakes. • It releases iron gradually during the vegetative cycle of the plant; the time recommended for treatment is autumn-spring. • FERYSOL® TOP 31 PREVENTS AND TREATS IRON CHLOROSIS when the first symptoms appear: in the top part of the leaves, the area between the veins becomes yellow, whereas the central veins remain green, with poor shoot development and flower colouring. This phenomenon is the consequence of the lack of iron in the soil or its being unavailable for absorption by the roots owing to the presence of limestone in excess and high pH values (basic soil). • It acidifies and corrects alkaline soils reducing the pH value of the solution circulating in the soil, as it also provides a great quantity of sulphuric anhydride (SO3).

AMINOSUPER® N 6,5/ Features: • Aminosuper® N 6,5 should be spread on the soil by means of drip irrigation systems at intervals of 10 – 20 days. The organic nitrogen contained in Aminosuper® N 6,5 makes the plant absorb the nutrient immediately, also in line with the needs of long-cycle plants. The operator can therefore choose the interval between the treatments, especially for ornamental foliage pot plants. • Aminosuper® N 6,5 can be mixed with the main fertilizers and phytosanitary products, except those having a basic-alkaline reaction (e.g. copper). How to use: 1) To prepare the solution, first pour water into a mixing barrel. 2) Pour Aminosuper® N 6,5 into the barrel slowly and gradually. 3) Shake to obtain a homogeneous solution. 4) Important: as the product is organic, foam may be produced. Foam can be avoided using a suitable antifoaming product or mixing slowly. 5) It is recommended to use the product by fertirrigation during the last phase of water distribution; after treating with Aminosuper® N 6,5, use only water for 10-15 minutes to clean the irrigation system. • Transplanted plants will root rapidly if they are treated once or twice with Aminosuper® N 6,5 after the transplant. Thanks to its specific characteristics, Aminosuper® N 6,5 is suitable for many types of plants, especially in the horticulture and floriculture sectors. • Dilute 200 grams of Aminosuper® N 6,5 in 100 litres of water and spray directly on the soil. If used for trees, it can be diluted with the same quantity of water.

AMINOSPRINT® N8/ Features: • Aminosprint® N8 should be sprinkled over land every 10-20 days by means of a drop-by-drop irrigation system. The organic nitrogen contained in Aminosprint® N8 enables immediate absorption of nutriments, also according to the long-cycle cultivation needs; this enables the operator to determine the time frame between one irrigation and the other, in particular for fronded ornamental pot plants. • Aminosprint® N8 can be mixed with the most common fertilizers and phytosanitary products, except for those with a basic-alkaline reaction (such as copper). Utilization: 1) First of all, pour the mother solution water in the mixing barrel. 2) Pour Aminosprint® N8 slowly and gradually in the barrel. 3) Shake the barrel in order to homogenize the blending. 4) N.B. the organic nature of product may originate a “foam effect”. This may be eliminated by adding an appropriate foam extinguisher or by slowing down the mixing process. 5) It is recommended that the sewage irrigation is carried out during the last water distribution stage and that the system is cleaned up through 10-15 minutes of water flowing, only after application of Aminosprint® N8. Transplanted cultivations recover very quickly if transplantation is followed by one or two irrigations with Aminosprint® N8. Thanks to its unique characteristics, Aminosprint® N8 may be used for many types of cultivations, in particular in the fruit, vegetable and flower sectors. Dilute 200 gr. of Aminosprint® N8 with 100 lt. of water and irrigate the land directly. For tree cultivations, Aminosprint® N8 may be used diluted with an equal quantity of water.

• Liquid fertilizer obtained by enzymatic hydrolysis of natural components; the production process permits to reach high concentrations of protein fractions and free aminocids with low molecular weight, available for plant nutrition. We recommend the application of Vigoramin® Ferro as a foliar fertilizer - the formulation includes 3% of iron, which is an important microelement essential for photosynthesis processes. Usage and spreading • We suggest applying the product during the morning or the evening, during the freshest periods of the day, with pauses of application (10-12 days). The Iron (Fe3+) gives a greening effect on leaves, improves the photosynthesis efficiency and physiological response of the plants. In areas where Iron is not available (due to the soil conformation and calcareous soils) Vigoramin® Ferro solve problems related to plant nutritional stress. CEREALSPRINTER® is a preparation for foliar use by means of spray bars. For autumn-winter straw cereals and summer crops such as rice, maize, sunflowers and soya beans. The main action is to provide nitrogenous nourishment and vegetative stimulation during the most important phenological stages of the growth cycle. Can be mixed with pesticides and weed killers (as long as they do not have a strong acid reaction) to substitute the “wetting agents” in order to prevent- assist possible effects of plant stress caused by aggressive mixes. Such mixes must be made only immediately before sowing in the field. There are three types of nitrogen that provide nourishment: 1) Punctual nourishment provided by urea nitrogen. 2) Gradual and persistent nourishment in the days following treatment provided by condensed nitrogen. 3) Energetic stimulating function performed by organic nitrogen (amino acids). CEREALSPRINTER® is a liquid preparation whose characteristics ensure stability over time. It does not create sediment or coagulate; it persists in its original state even when stored for a number of months (in ideal storage conditions). CEREALSPRINTER® used as is does not require special attention any different from that paid to ordinary professional farming products. However, if mixed with phytochemicals the prescriptions for such preparations must be observed. Acts at a minimum temperature of 13-14°C; treatment during summer must be carried out at the coolest time of day (not during the hours of strong sunlight). It is mainly used on the leaves, but the part that falls to the ground is not wasted, as it is absorbed by the plant’s roots. Can also be mixed with hydrosoluble salts if it is to be included in an overall nourishment plan.

PREPARING A NUTRITIONAL MIX

1) First pour water into the mixing tank. 2) Slowly and gradually pour CEREALSPRINTER® into the tank (see back of info card for doses). 3) Stir to make a smooth mix. At this stage mineral salts or pesticides can be added in the recommended doses. 4) Attention: the organic-mineral nature of the product may produce a “foam effect”. This can be eliminated with a special anti-foaming agent or by slowing down the mixing operation. 5) Use special nozzles to spray the leaves; we recommend using all the mix so that sediment is not formed by any solution left in the tank.

N.B.: Contains no biuret = biuret is a molecule formed by condensation of two molecules of urea. It can be toxic for roots = when > 1% distributed; and for leaves = when > 0.30% distributed. There is no free formaldehyde, as it is reacted with plain urea.

DOSES AND APPLICATION METHOD FOR CROPS

In all cases mentioned below dilution is approximately 300-500 g/100l water. STRAW CEREALS (common and durum wheat, barley, oats and triticale) Using CEREALSPRINTER® is recommended at different times in the phenological stages: 1) Possible treatment at the tillering-stem elongation stage for the purpose of allowing the crops to start growing again after cold and rainy spells in winter. It also helps plants to withstand ear differentiation occurring at the base of the culm before it begins to elongate. In this case the function is NUTRITIONAL. If a single session is required, doses may vary from 25kg to 50kg/hectare/treatment, according to the condition of the soil and the foliar canopy. 4.5 to 9 kg of nitrogenated units respectively are delivered. 2) Otherwise CEREALSPRINTER® can be used mixed with weed killers in spring and with fungicides in April-May. In such cases doses are reduced to 6-8 kg/hectare/treatment. Here the action is synergic: CARRIER-ANTISTRESS-NUTRITIONAL 3) At the booting- earing stage. Also here to “target” help in one of the most important periods of growth. In this case doses may vary from 6 to 10kg per treatment according to the condition of the crop. The action is mainly NUTRITIONAL RICE For rice CEREALSPRINTER® is mainly used mixed with phytochemicals (instead of wetting agents), acting as an ANTISTRESS because treatment is often aggressive (given the watery environment) and the plant needs a tonic. Also used mixed with fungicides to combat pyricularia oryzae (blast or rotten neck) in July. Doses vary from 7-10kg/hectare/treatment. MAIZE-SUNFLOWERS CEREALSPRINTER® can be used at two different phenological stages: 1) At the 5-6th leaf stage, as proper foliar fertiliser (when it falls to the ground it is in any case absorbed by the roots) in a difficult growth “starting” situation (sown on damp terrain or late) in order to render growth homogeneous. Recommended doses go from 30 to 60kg/hectares/treatment, delivering approximately 5-11 nitrogenated units. 2) At post-flowering, at the beginning of the ripening stage, to sustain this important kernel filling stage. Recommended doses are approximately 15-20kg/hectares/treatment SOYA BEANS As soya beans are part of the leguminous family of plants they do not require large quantities of nitrogen for their vegetative cycle. The application of CEREALSPRINTER® therefore depends on the situation in the field and is restricted to three periods to deliver targeted nitrogen nutrition: 1) At the 6-7th leaf stage, to assist the crops in the event of stress related to temperature changes, or sowing in difficult conditions (damp terrain, sowing on unploughed ground for second harvest). Also here the product that falls to the ground will be absorbed by the roots. Doses vary a great deal according to whether fertilisers were used during sowing. NP: 20 to 60kg/hectare/treatment. 2) At the pod fruit set stage; doses are reduced to 10-15kg/hectare/treatment 3) At the filling and ripening stage, to increase average pod weight. Also here doses may vary from 12 to 20kg/hectare/treatment. Must be calculated according to the general condition of the crops and the overall fertilisation plan. Safety indications: - CEREALSPRINTER® does not require any “hazard” indication, nor do the raw materials used in its formulation. In addition, it comes with a Safety Sheet which shows the normal warnings regarding care and behaviour - Use according to “good agricultural practice” - The product is stable at ordinary temperatures and pressure - Keep at a temperature of 4°C to 25°C - The product is not combustible Product should not be in contact with plant’s roots.
