Section 1: Introduction Late 2008, whilst taking a walk, from out of the blue a thought crossed my mind, “gather an army of women to join you in praying and walking”. However, I knew it was inspiration from God, so, I began praying for more clarity on the instruction. It soon became clear that it was about spending quality time with God, taking time out to discipline the mind and focus the human spirit on God. There are many reasons why people struggle with decision making, planning and maintaining focus in life; some of the problems are the distractions, lack of self control and discipline. And so the symptoms become more apparent with time, procrastination sets in, lack of priority setting, waste of time and money, ever changing objectives, regrettable and costly decisions soon becomes a norm. For a woman, the daily chaos and competing priorities of each day creates an environment that could lead to a total loss of motivation and focus on what is most important. Whether you are a student, a wife, a mother, a business or career woman, to achieve success and fulfil your purpose in life you need to be in control of your life activities. 1
And so, moments of self-reflection becomes crucial for everyone with a busy lifestyle. If you attend Church Sunday services, prayer and Bible study meetings, you will find these create opportunities for reflection, that is, if your reasons for attending is to please God and gain more knowledge. Most people choose to have their self- reflection moment at the start of each New Year and we are all forced to reflect on life when someone close to us dies or when we attend a funeral. Well, I have found that most opportunities for self-reflection are short lived because as memory fades we all return to the rat race and our comfort zones, things remain the same. Self-reflection should be part of every moment. The answer to the question “why am I doing this?” should be in the mind always to help avoid living a life of frustration. The prayer walk is another opportunity to start you on the journey to discipline your body, mind and spirit on God. When you get the priority right your life desire becomes achievable. Section 2: Why Prayer Walk? Many of us lead very busy lives, most especially in Europe where people work different hours of the day on different days of the week. Most Christians sincerely love the Lord; and they desire to give more than they currently do towards the growth of God’s kingdom. For as long as our lifestyles compete with spending quality time with God and we are without the spirit of God it is impossible to do His will. The Lord is still seeking those that will worship him in spirit and in truth, and I believe for those that will make a choice to spare an hour a week or an hour a day walking and meditating on the Word of God; they have the greatest opportunity to develop an intimate relationship with God. Why Walk? You can start walking at anytime to any place. Walking is the cheapest form of exercise, it’s free and you do not need any special equipment. We recommend that you start off at a pace that is comfortable for you and then gently build up to brisk walking if you can. The more you walk, the more you will experience and appreciate the benefits. Walking can... 3
•Make you feel good •Give you more energy •Reduce stress and help you sleep better •Keep your heart ‘strong’ •Reduce blood pressure •Help me manage your weight
Section 3: Check points before starting Before you start, please complete a quick check of your relationship with God. Be real at every stage of your walk with God, do not be a hypocrite. Check your level of conviction in the following areas. It is very important that you are obedient to the one who has called “Our Lord and Saviour – Jesus Christ”. Ask the Holy Spirit to heal you in each area of weakness and he will. Are you born again? Do you confess Jesus as your Lord and Saviour? John 3:5 5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Do you love Jesus? To love is to obey his teaching. 4
John 14: 23 Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him” Do you give your tithe and offering? This is a command from the Lord to all believers. Malachi 3:8-10 “Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me. “But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’ “In tithes and offerings. You are under a curse—your whole nation—because you are robbing me. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. Do you seek the giver or the gifts? Mathew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Do you put your faith to test? Faith without action is dead.
Hebrew 11:1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
deliverance hour either. It’s a time to be in God’s presence ministering love to God and being in awe of God’s faithfulness.
