We are all aware of how challenging retail has become. There are many reasons for this. Consumers’ buying habits have changed dramatically, generation X generation Y, Millennials, uncertainty of the economy, fear of travel and yes even a small election that will take place this fall. When considering consumer spending habits and how consumers purchase products they are seeking, along with the Internet's blogs on goods to be sold and purchased, hoping for “the way it used to be “or for it to go back to normal is not a sound business option. First hope is not a good business strategy. Next what is the new normal? This is a quick explanation of why many “outside the box” wholesalers and retailers are investigating new and alternative methods to attract the consumers. My company has been contacted numerous times in the recent months to help add footwear to an existing apparel company. In fact there was a recent article written by an on line fashion magazine that stated “adding footwear to an existing apparel business may be what can save them” It is for these reasons that I was inspired to contribute this article and have it read in “Focus on Fashion Retail.”
