Cameron wants to dispel the myth that only the rich can make investments. “I help everyone from the bag boy to the store manager, from students to doctors,” said Cameron. “You only need two things to invest: Time and money. You don’t need a lot of money or have to be rich. I enjoy helping young people grow their money so they can have more money later in life.” Cameron is a member of the Plant City Toastmasters, an organization dedicated to helping members develop their communication and leadership skills. Cameron was once “terribly shy” and joined the organization to develop public speaking skills. “I found there were people in the group that I looked up to,” said Cameron. These relationships and the tracks offered by the organization, helped Cameron become the business professional he is today. In fact, Michael Cameron is the only recipient of Toastmasters’ Golden Strawberry Award. Within the Toastmasters organization, speakers are encouraged to choose their own writing topic. Ms. Pat Carr chose to prepare a speech of presenting an award to a recipient. In doing so, she made the Golden Strawberry Award- a styrofoam “strawberry,” covered in gold craft glitter with a green glitter stem. The homemade award is attached to a small wood plaque and Carr chose Cameron as the recipient. Despite the simple creation and casual presentation, Cameron proudly displays the award on a shelf in his office as a reminder of his involvement in the communications organization.

He is an active member of the Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce, and runs the judging of the Suncoast Credit Union Plant City Pig Jam. Cameron also served as the 2015 Chairman of the Board for the Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce. He was named Citizen of the Year in 2014 and the Chamber has presented numerous awards to Cameron over the years, including Growing Business of the Year (2008) and Ambassador Team of the Year (2010, 2012 and 2014). He also received the Good Egg award in 2003. When he isn’t helping customers grow their money or participating in community events, Cameron can be found kayak fishing, traveling, and being outside, including landscaping. He is an avid collector of Weber grills and enjoys cooking, eating, and helping at BBQ competitions. “Competitions make great fundraisers for various charitable causes and individuals battling disease or tragic circumstances. Seems like food with a purpose tastes so much better, too.” Cameron is also especially grateful for his Client Relations Manager, Shawnia McNary Kummelman, a Plant City native who assists his clients in Suite 109 at 110 West Reynolds Street.
