Objectives Philosophy This programme aims to reflect the belief that half of a person’s potential is developed by age four shown by research. MIKIDS believes in the development of Multiple Intelligences as advocated by the researcher Dr. Howard Gardner.

Teaching and learning through this programme emphasises the integrated and interconnected approach to holistic developmentof children. Attention is given to children’s physical, language, logical, social, emotional, musical, creativity and spiritual development through fun learning activities. It is in line with the child development requirement of “Kurikulum Permata”. It is teacher friendly with clear instructions, multimedia support complete with required materials for learning, art and music.

Sub - objectives Songs, Music and Movement

Draws children to learning through songs, music and movement and promote learning in language, develop physical flexibility, memory, brain stimulation and listening skills.

Art and Craft

Physical co-ordination of fine, gross and bilateral co-ordination skills. Promotes self regulation and esteem booster. Develop problem solving abilities and creativity with the ability to think outside the box.

Language

Promotes development in listening, understanding and speaking English through the theme storyline and activities. Comprehends language, follows directions, uses language to express thoughts and needs, expanding vocabulary and improve grammar.

Literacy

Develops alphabet knowledge, identifies and names letters, knowledge of print. Recognises words through whole language approach. Demonstrates emergent writing skills and able to illustrate to convey meaning.

Maths and Concepts

Develop number concepts and operations, recognise number symbol, counts, connects numerals with their quantities. Develop understanding of concepts of colour, geometry, measurement and spatial relations.

Science and Technology

Understands basic Science discovery through outdoor nature study, the human body and physical properties, objects and materials. Engaging with Technology tools to learn and perform tasks.

Social Science

Demonstrates knowledge about self , shows basic understanding of other people and culture. Demonstrates appropriate behaviour with family and friends.


Social Emotional

Through the activities participated in, children will learn to regulate own emotions and behaviours.

Physical

Through the activities participated in, children will develop fine and gross motor skills, eye hand co-ordination, balancing skills for their successful movement and handling of writing tools.

Practical Life Skills

These activities encourage the development of important life skills such as concentration, patience, cooperation, pride of work, responsibility and good work ethics. They also help centre the child by helping him engage in meaningful and productive work. It is important to the development of executive function skill in order that the children will be able to cope and act on instructions.
