Welcome to the Seventh Serving of the Wirral Food and Drink Festival. We're delighted to now be in our seventh year of holding the Festival in the picturesque setting of Claremont Farm, Spital. The Festival has grown year after year with your continued support and this year we are happy to welcome over 30 new exhibitors ensuring the Festival is fresh and interesting each year. We have worked really hard to ensure the event offers something for everyone, not just for Foodies and expanded the children's entertainment to ensure that this continues to be the perfect bank holiday event for all the family. • Live music • Morris dancers • The Mini sheep show • Clive Sensible returns with his team but this year he's brought 2 Big Tops to perform in and teach circus skills • Face painting • Food and farming tent with Liverpool University so you can see some farm animals up close • Liverpool One style bus will be offering style advice • Chef demonstrations on the stage • Dig a little deeper stage • Adult and Children Cookery sessions are available, register at the Domes for your session • This year we've brought something brand new to the Festival, the Good Life Marquee where you'll see a series of demonstrations, hands on workshops and a gardeners question time over the two days. Our committee and band of volunteers work tirelessly throughout the year to ensure this is the best Wirral Food experience it can be. STEP 1 Smash the cookies until crumbly and place in a non stick pan with 50g of butter, melt the butter into the cookies.

STEP 2 Once cookies have moistened place in a none stick baking tin, place in the fridge to cool. STEP 3 While the base sets in the fridge, melt all the chocolate in a Bane Marie and whip the soft cheese until smooth, whip the cream until it holds firmly. STEP 4 Once the chocolate is melted stand aside until cool. Once cool add the soft cheese into the chocolate and mix until combined. Once combined, do the same with the cream.

Wirral micro-brewery wins top award at Liverpool Camra Beer Festival 2012 Birkenhead-based Peerless Brewing Company’s cask-conditioned lager Storr was named best beer in a challenge for the region’s nine real ale brewers at the Camra (Campaign for Real Ale) Liverpool Beer Festival. With beers judged by 70 laymen, Storr took the title well ahead of the closest runner-ups by several points. Storr is a pale, “hoppy” beer and its name derives from the Old Norse word for great or strong. Storr’s popularity with ale drinkers has grown rapidly since the Pool Street brewery opened in 2009.

“For our cask la to win was won ger derful. It shows Storr is a lager with real taste. It is produced in th e true tradition of lage brewing and pr r oves lager, if brewed properly, can be as rewarding a just as traditional ca tipple sk ales.”

FISH FINGER SANDWICH DWICH As a child I loved fish finger sandwiches andd myy enthusiasm has not wained now that I am a grown up, I just want a slightly more sophisticated version. ST STEP 1 First make your bread crumbs. Cut the chorizo into slices then each slice in half. Dry fry them in a pan and allow to cool a little. Put your bread in a processor along with the chorizo and whizz them into crumbs. The chorizo will excrete a lovely orange tainted oil into the pan, stir the crumbs into this till combined.

STEP 2 Wash and pat dry the fish in some kitchen roll then cut them int fingers. Dust each one in flour then dip in the egg. Now coat the fish finger in the bread crumbs.

STEP 3 Place them on a baking sheet and cook for 20 minutes at 180c

STEP 4 Serve the fish fingers between 2 slices of toasted bread with lettuce and tartar sauce, or of course ketchup.

STEP 5 A lovely side dish for this are my simple mushy peas. Boil 250g of frozen Peas in hot water. Drain the water and whizz the peas in a processor with 1 tbsp of sour cream, 1 tsp of mint sauce and a pinch of salt and pepper. Don't over process them, you want a little texture and not baby food.
