Pathfinders The annual Tilbuster Pumpkin Run will be held again in 2016 and with the assistance of many community organisations and benefactors, Pathfinders are ready to make it bigger than previous years. Planning and planting is well underway, with over 1,000 pumpkin seeds in the ground and with the generous support of the Northern Tablelands Local Land Services, Tankworks and the Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation, an irrigation system and tank has been acquired, built and installed. With the assistance of Tilbuster’s project coordinator, Charlie Winter, many young people have been involved, from laying the pipe through to building the tank. Not only will this water grow the vegetables, it will also supply water to troughs for the cattle, which will also enable rehabilitation of Tilbuster Ponds creek that runs through the property. The aim of the Pumpkin Run has always been to give back to the community, growing and supplying fresh vegetables, especially pumpkins, to refuges, nursing homes and to feed those less fortunate. The Pumpkin Run commences from Armidale in April and will finish in the middle of Sydney’s CBD at Government House, where His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley generously invited Pathfinders during his visit to our Inverell office earlier this year.

Elders INSURANCE Have you set 2016 New Year's resolutions for your business? New Year's resolutions don't have to be about losing weight, getting into shape or saving money. In addition to your personal goals, you may be thinking about ways to improve your business in the coming year. What kind of objectives could propel your company forward in 2016? 1. Refresh your business plan and marketing strategies As the Australian Small Business Commissioner suggested, reviewing your business plan and updating your marketing materials and activities intermittently gives you the agility to respond to new opportunities and situations. 2. Expand into new markets Whether you take your business online, set up shop overseas or pursue new product offerings, these endeavours could be a great way to expand your operations. As your assets and activities grow, be sure to update your business insurance accordingly to protect investments new and old. 3. Compare your business to other organisations in your field While it's also great to focus on improving cashflow, streamlining your operations and more, you might also want to consider how your activities stack up against your competitors. By benchmarking yourself against similar organisations, you can identify areas you excel in, as well as ways you need to improve to stay at the forefront of your field.
