Membership includes age appropriate access to the gymnasium, indoor pool, outdoor waterpark, indoor track, fitness floor, chill zone, and discounts on programs, special events, and rentals. The CAC has the following amenities: • Fitness Floor: more than 30 pieces of cardio equipment, 17 Cybex selectorized machines, walking/running track, a Smith machine, a rowing machine, and an Adaptive Motion Trainer. • Gymnasium: wood floor courts for volleyball, basketball, badminton, and pickleball. • Indoor Pool: eleven 25-yard lap lanes, diving board, waterslide, basketball goal, a toddler spray area, and AquaClimb climbing wall. • Outdoor Waterpark (seasonal): a zero-entry level activity pool, two large waterslides, lazy river, vortex, water play features, three tot slides, and a 60-gallon dumping bucket. • Tot Drop: designated area for infants and child’s restroom, for children aged 6 months-9 years. • Chill Zone: air hockey, two pool tables, ping pong, foosball table, gaming stations, and wireless internet. • Multipurpose Rooms for programming and private rentals. • Online membership and program registrations. CAC Birthday Party Packages The Parks and Recreation Department offers different options for hosting parties at the CAC, including party packages and room rental opportunities for birthdays, end-of-season sports team parties, or other celebrations. Parties will be held for one hour in either the indoor party room or one of the outdoor waterpark shade pavilions. Each attendee and one parent will receive a free swim pass for the day of the party. The basic party package costs $165 for members, $185 for nonmembers and includes the party area and host (one hour), half-sheet cake, 16 ice cream cups (vanilla or chocolate), 16 drinks, 16 general party favors, e-vites, and all paper goods (tablecloth, paper plates, cups, napkins, and utensils).

Library Construction FALL 2020 The Flower Mound Public Library is growing! The Library expansion will include an additional 15,000 square feet when complete. Several new amenities will be added including a children’s storytime room, teen area, additional study rooms and multipurpose room, creation lab, and a quiet reading room for adults. The expansion also includes increased parking, reading patios, and a vending area. The project is expected to be completed in fall 2020. Until construction is complete, please make note of the following changes: • The Library will open at 1 p.m. on Fridays. • Babypalooza will be held at 1:15 p.m. (See page 22 for dates) • The Tutor Zone is being temporarily discontinued. • Truck Rodeo and Summer Fun Showcase are canceled for 2020. COMMUNITY INSIGHTS Flower Mound Parks & Trails Spend some time this spring using the great parks and trails Flower Mound has to offer! The Parks and Recreation Department maintains close to 1,000 acres of parkland. This includes approximately 60 miles of multi-purpose trails that link together parks, neighborhoods, schools, and businesses. There are also 12 miles of equestrian trails and 14 miles of unpaved hike and bike trails for public use located along the northern shores of Grapevine Lake. Many of our neighborhood parks offer a variety of playgrounds, covered picnic shelters, cooking grills, park benches, and basketball play pads. Residents also enjoy numerous youth and adult baseball, softball, football, and soccer fields, and public tennis courts. Pavilion Rentals

The Flower Mound Parks and Recreation Department maintains several pavilions throughout the Town, including the performance pavilion, located at Heritage Park. All park pavilions are available to rent for both parties and events. Reservations can be scheduled up to six months in advance, and must be made in person at the Community Activity Center during normal business hours (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.). The wildlife encounter nature trail is a great feature of Heritage Park. The concrete trail is stamped and colored to blend in with the natural surroundings, providing for a safe and accessible trail. Along the path, park users will encounter life-size bronze sculptures of indigenous animals to the Flower Mound area such as bobcats, deer, and coyotes. In addition, there are interpretive signage of each animal that will include pictures, facts and descriptions, as well as life-size paw prints to use to find the location of the 12 bronze sculptures in the nature trail. The Parks and Recreation Department looks forward to seeing residents enjoy the park and its many amenities for years to come! Teams of Tomorrow (TOT) is a basketball skills enrichment program focusing on athletics, academics, and agility. TOT has developed a curriculum using fun, age-appropriate music that teaches preschoolers ball handling and dribbling skills. While a basketball is the main tool, preschoolers are also exposed to fine and gross motor skills activities, as well as higher-order thinking and listening activities. Spring Break Dodgeball Camp

This is an immensely enjoyable dodgeball and games camp. The emphasis is on fun, teamwork, and exercise. Participants will play many different versions of the classic game, including dungeon ball, backboard, and doctor dodgeball. Extra safe dodgeballs are used ensuring a good time is had by all. YOUTH Bowmen’s Homeschool PE

Fun, classic games like kickball, dodgeball, Wiffle ball, and capture the flag will be played in addition to running a one-mile test and learning body weight strength training. YOUTH American Red Cross Babysitting and CPR

This class will teach students the skills needed to become a responsible babysitter. Waterpark Lifeguard Training Course

Pre-requisites: Ages 6-10 years must be able to swim one length of the pool (25 Yards) unassisted; Ages 1 - adult must be able to swim two lengths of the pool unassisted.

These clinics will provide technical instruction in all four competitive strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly) plus starts, turns, and finishes. The primary emphasis will be to learn to swim the strokes properly and efficiently. Some interval training will be offered to maintain an aerobic endurance base. This is an ideal clinic for those planning on swimming competitively in the summer. Last day of registration for all sessions is the Thursday prior to the session start date.

Our cleanup will be at various parks, trails, waterways, and roadways throughout Flower Mound. Giveaways, door prizes, and prizes for most trash and recyclables collected will also take place.
