PARKS & REC INSIGHTS Flower Mound Parks & Trails Since 1985, America has celebrated July as the nation’s official Parks and Recreation Month. In 2009, the U.S. House of Representatives officially mandated July as “Parks and Recreation Month.” So spend some time this summer utilizing the great parks and trails Flower Mound has to offer! The Parks and Recreation Division maintains close to 1,000 acres of parkland. This includes approximately 60 miles of multi-purpose trails that link together parks, neighborhoods, schools, and businesses. There are also 12 miles of equestrian trails and 14 miles of unpaved hike and bike trails for public use located along the northern shores of Grapevine Lake. Many of our neighborhood parks offer a variety of playgrounds, covered picnic shelters, cooking grills, park benches, and basketball play pads. Residents also enjoy numerous youth and adult baseball, softball, football, and soccer fields, and public tennis courts. For more information about the Town’s Parks and Trail system, please visit www.flower-mound.com/parks.

Pavilion Rentals

The Flower Mound Parks and Recreation Division maintains several pavilions throughout the Town, including the new performance pavilion, located at the newly renovated Heritage Park. All park pavilions are available to rent for both parties and events. Reservations can be scheduled up to six months in advance, and must be made in person at the Community Activity Center during normal business hours (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.). All tennis programs including lessons, leagues, clinics, classes, drills, tournaments, and camps, are conducted by USPTA certified teaching professional Frank Ford and staff. All students must bring one can of unopened balls to the first class of each session. Minimum of 4 participants required. Registration must be made 3 days in advance of the first day of class. For Leagues: No partner needed for progressive doubles leagues. Participants play three sets, one set against each opponent, and accumulate points on a weekly basis. Leagues will be limited to a maximum number of participants in each division, and are filled on a first person registered basis. Floating leagues allow players to schedule match day and times to fit their schedules.
