As far as I'm concerned, study without enthusiasm is 1n vain. For the sake of my love for painting and my d「eam, luckily, I enrolled in Landscape ma」。「 in AHO as expected. I deeply love this major. What's more, I have such precious opportunity to exchange to Polytechnic University of Catalonia. It is always a dream to me that I can work in amb仆ious and fresh environment like your offer. I would like to share all my enthusiasm and training with the colleagues . I pu 「sue beauty and love c 「eation, due to subtle influence of art since my childhood. My grandfather is a steamship designer, proficient in poems and ink paintings. So, I have learned calligraphy and traditional Chinese paintings from him since my childhood. Painting training for many years has cultivated my good habit of observing life carefully. Howeve 「, I can easily find surprised beauty in life so as to create more interesting designs. Out of my favor for painting, I always treat landscape design as my goal. With a wide range of inte 「ests and strong thirst for knowledge, I like to learn diverse living skills and experience different life styles. The「efore, I utilized each vacation to enrich myself, such as serving as a volunteer to a permacultu「e family farm in Basque country, Spain in this summer. Before, I used to help abandoned children to learn mathematic and reading in my country; I learning sketch and playing drums and experiencing meditation class to gain inner JOY and improve spiritual connotation; participating in a workshop and contacting basic operation of rhino, grasshopper and processing software in 2014, China. It was this workshop that made me broaden my horizon and appreciate working methods and design ideas of foreign excellent designers. Thus, I further firm my objective of overseas study. In terms of academic performance, I have acquired outstanding results in specialized studio in Norway. For instance, A Motorway named RIO studio provide me with opportunity to research in what ways the rethinking of a key infrastructure could trigge 「 an environmentally and socially just development of the urban habitat. In my previous internship in Guangzhou, I deeply realized respon­ sibilities of a designe「 and my deficiency in design while abso彻ng experience from p「edecesso「s. During my college period, I took active part in practical activities. I learned to cons1de「 problems from peasants' perspective in overall planning of "New Rural Area". Watershed Park Site: San Luis Potosi, MEXICO Type: Cooeration Team Memberďźš Zoe Yan My Work: analysis, concept and model making Time Period: Jan.2016 - Jun. 2016 Advisor: Sabine MĂźller,Gauthier Durey Area: 68 HA Breif: Through the redirection of the water flow this project scopes to transform San Luis Potosi into a park city. By reorganized the stormwater of the site and imply ecological infrastructure, we are prone to help deal with flooding problem, improve water effeciency, urban climat and street aethetics.

Flooding

Upstream | Slope

The biggest problem we find out in San Luis Potosi is the bad management of storm water, which means water pollution, low efficiency and massive floods. Boulevard RĂ­o Santiago is a dry river and nowadays uesde as main urban corridor in the city. With a changing climate and a growing city, what had been a reasonable plan at its time, has become highly problematic: Recently occurring heavy rains frequently cause flooding and mudding of the motorway bringing the city to a collapse.

We have questioned the local planning institution: Do recent upstream developments cause flooding and waterlogging? Since there's many slope and bare hills in upstream and many of them are private land right now. Upstream zone without green is very easy to cause water and soil erosion, which lead to strage space of the dam decreased and flooding into the city.

We try to reorganize the stormwater circulation in our "Watershed Park".

We use a series of Low Impact Development methods from mechanical to biological. Stormwater are collected from the very beginning. Some are stored for daily use, some are purified to irrigate plants and some are finally conveyed into Rio Santiago.

Rainwater falls on the roofs and gardens, it flows on houses, streets and gardens, to infilitrate and to provide an open park for the new tenants of the Bellavue Jardin. • Brief :

It is one of the oldest district in the Wuhan. Under pressure of the fast pace of morden development, this historical district is facing a challenge. Therefore, this project is about the balance bewteen history and modern lifestyle. The interest is also the demanding problem for me, which is how to make a satisfied combination of culture conflicts. My aim is to find a new form of vitality city space to solve this problem.


About the Site:

> > LOCATION LOCATION

Surrouned by two hills, the site is geograhically well positioned for fortification purpose, and thus this disctrict used to be the centre of the city until Qing Dynasty. Threr are many historical buildings with both Chinese and Western style preserved. However, with modernisation, military use declines and Tanhualin's prosperity fade into history.

Open Space

Limited open space are no longer to satisfied citizens' basic needs. Therefore, the top priority for improving environment quality is to create more outdoor activities as well as commuting oppotunities among people.

ACTIVITIES

Alleys are the most basic form of public space in many historical areas. However, the alley within the site experienced long time, which lead to access inner space more difficult and limited outdoor activities.

Building Quality

Despite of preserved historic buildings, the quality of majority existing buildings is poor. The style of architecture in this area is disordered, especially for some bungalows built by local residents.

Diagram above indicated the basic form of the main modren buisness street and the different types of outdoor activities. The traditional function is going to transformed. I try to figure out some possiblities to increse communication between visiotrs and local residents.

The site contains two existing hills, and thus I try to connect them with green space in order to create fresh atmoshere. Besides, according to existing texture, I mimic similar patterns of buildings to maintain traditional style of the site. To slove the traffic problem, I set three car parks near the main traffic road.

Breif:

The site is located in the node of Tanhualin Historic Block, with the northern edge facing the main street. This site is used as a limited public space for tempo-rary stay currrently. The design is driven by its con-text. By providing possiblities for different activities, the site is supposed to cater for different needs of both locals and tourists.

This site is one of the mian nodes of Tanhualin district. Currently, the site plays an uncompetent role in open space for visitors to get rest. For eaxmple, there are limited seats offering and lack of vegetal shelter. In addition, some old ruins exist behind the Rongyuan Cafe, and thus I want to guide tourists having a rest a front of the cafe first and then visit these old ruins. By providing possibilities for different activities and enough seats , the site is supposed to cater for people with diversity needs.

> DIVERSITY & FLEXIBLE > MASTER PLAN

Divided space and the green zone make it possible for people to transit or stay, which can make a contribute to merge the boundaries between ‘inside’ and ‘outside’ the square.

The interval of two isolated space ensure people enjoy individual privacy and interaction.

The twisting boundary with the plants set up a refreshing and tranquil public rest area.

I select different parts of the square to prove the diversity and flexibility in this area. Through a variety of activies, I can figure out that each part of the square has the corresponding function.

Brief :

This project is located in Xiantao- a site maybe not belonging to historic site but still has many rich stories and natural resources. The interst of this project is to explore communication oppotunities among both traditional Chinese Dwelling and street in the city. Although It is a challenge, we are still able to come up a solution through analysising.

The south new city is organized in the form of neighborhood. Within the planned period, the population should be evacuated. It is necessary to make the best of landscape resources of Central Park and commercial services to transform the old city and form a medium-density and high-density dwelling district. In the south ot the site, medium-density and low-density medium-grade and high-grade dwelling district will be mainly developed along Tongshun River.

Gulskogen Nord - The Construction of a Metropolitan Urban Landscape

This project is located in Drammen, 40 mins from OSLO by train, were studied in this spring semester whose approach to urbanism is to put environmental systems first. With Giambattista Zaccariotto, in an elective course called “Landscape Architecture in Practice� which ran parallel to the master studio, we investigated how landscape and water management can provide a framework for densification in a former industrial zone subject to rising urban pressure. Two different approaches were studied: a concentrated and a dispersed scenario, or centralized and decentralized, which were then merged together as one.

This is an installation based on motion sensing gaming device kinect and data processing technology. The image projected onto the wall is a 3D point cloud reproduction of the captured data of the human body, but on the floor we have an old map of Wuhan in the last century. Using historical sites or famous bussiness districts as focal points, we divide Wuhan into numerous regions using Voronoi partition, where every border line of every region is of equal distance to the points on its left and right, hence creating a “totally balanced” diagram. When a gamer enters a region, it becomes highlightd. We call this the erasure of urban texture.
