National TV – Turnoff Week Floranada Elementary will be celebrating National TV – Turnoff Week again this year. From April 19 through April 25 our students and families will be encouraged to turn off the television and engage in a wide variety of substitute activities. Your child will be bringing home a parent letter and permission slip on April 12. We had a terrific response and participation last year and hope to again this year. Also that week, we will be holding our annual Field of Readers on Friday, April 23. Students are encouraged to bring a towel, cap, and book to read outside on the grass with the entire school from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. on April 23. These are fun ways to celebrate the joy of reading!
Great American Cleanup This year, Floranada is participating in the Great American Cleanup, which is part of a nationwide spring-cleaning event. This event is sponsored by Broward County’s Waste Management, Inc. Forty members of our environmentally astute Green Team and Student Council will be assisting with our campus cleanup on April 20 from 2:30-3:15. We hope to make this an annual event.
