ABOUT JULIAN VON PLATO – STRATEGIST DIGMU - SPECIALITY: DIGITAL & MOBILE Having spent the last 20 years in the South African Music and IT industry, Julian has been able to place himself in a unique position of Specialist in an ever growing digital entertainment industry. Julian began his career in 1986 as a singer in various cover bands in the Guateng. This included performing with Vicky Sampson and John Cecil in the successful cover band Wonderland. In 1991 Julian spent a year in the UK working as an engineer and songwriter. In early 1992 Julian was invited back to SA to join a new project called Third Wave with Gary van Riet. The debut album, a first for SA combining the best talent across all racial boundaries, formed the biggest dance band of the year. The album spawned four NO.1 hits and a national tour. Julian was responsible for writing five of the tracks including two of the number 1’s as well as performing as a vocalist on various tracks.

Over the next two years Julian spent his time writing and producing for various artists. Projects included: Danzecore Vol 2. – released by EMI/Virgin – sold 5000 units; Constance – Why – featuring the NO. 1 hit “Do you Love Him“ solely written by Julian von Plato; Outlaw Entertainment - late 1993 with Paul Paoliello of BMG Africa. In 1995 Julian released “Voices 4 Victory” SA’s first unsigned bands project. Julian raised the capital and recorded and produced all eight bands that featured on the album. The album was released through Outlaw Entertainment and spawned hits for bands such as Amersham and Pure Feel. Seven of the eight tracks were playlisted on radio stations across the country proving that South African Music was starting to come of age. In 1996 Julian become Head Producer at Cube Music and for two years worked on multiple albums as a producer, songwriter and engineer. Julian spent time helping to develop local music including artist such as Ard Mathews, Belinda Davids, Nasty Weather and others. During this time Julian had started to recognise the change in the industry and that the internet was going to play a major role in defining the music industry of the future. Over the next eight years Julian started his own marketing agency, Outlore Marketing (IT orientated) and worked with clients such as HP, Lucent, Tarsus, Cisco and many more. All this time he continued to work on his passion for music and was asked to head up a project for Quincy Jones called Q Radio (Q Radio sold African music into the US via the internet). The project lasted for 2 years and was way ahead of its competition at the time. In early 2003 Julian joined the Prezence team (New Media Agency) and setup SA’s definitive online music portal Prezence was rising up to become the leading digital agency in SA. Over the next 4 years Julian headed up the Prezence JHB office as well as continued developing EntertainmentAfrica. Julian pioneered in developing the relationships with all the record labels and film labels in SA. Julian also worked on developing the digital drive of the SA Music Awards and is currently consulting on the 2011 SA Music Awards. Julian has also judged the SA Music Awards (five in total), he has consulted to various IT companies and has spoken and presented to EMI, Lucent, Moshito Conference etc. Highlights: – Over 100 000 subscribers. Office Idols 2006 – Head Judge. Flighted on DSTV channel 36 over a 10 week period. Julian MC’d various events including: Launch of the PVR to journalists at Mount Grace, the Danny K album launch and more. SA Music Awards – Development of first digital voting system for judges as well as the digital strategy for 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 SA Music Awards – Julian was responsible for the first-ever Awards Goodie Bag – Over R18,000’s worth of items presented to performers and presenters. Largest Goodie Bag in SA history. Friends of Live – Julian created a promotion whereby SA audience’s / fans posted messages to the band during their SA tour in 2006. The best message won a day with the band. A framed leather

covered book (250 pages) of fan messages was presented to LIVE during their meet & greet in JHB by Julian. This was hailed as one the most successful online viral campaigns in SA. Over 20 000 entries were received online. Telkom sponsorship of the portal. Julian secured a three year sponsorship making it one of the only financially successful portals in SA at the time. Invited by Sony Ericsson to be the only SA Music Journalist at 2006 MTV EMA’s in Copenhagen. Secured the first interview with FreshlyGround when they won their MTV International Award. Julian has interviewed a wide range of local and international artists including Black Eyed Peas, Live, Collective Soul, Skunk Anansie, Metallica, Fat Boy Slim, Evanescence, Stereo MCs, Fall Out Boy, Staind, Hoobastank, Rem, Faithless and many more…. First-ever live mobile video podcast from the 2008 SA Music Awards. In 2007 Julian was the opportunity to join the newly formed Telkom Media. Julian was Brand Manager for Music and was responsible for developing the entire music strategy for Telkom Media. This included the following: Digital Music Platform; Developing of music channel strategy for satellite; Music content for WebTV; Music strategy for launch of Telkom Media; Assisting in content ideas for satellite and IPTV offering. In 2009 Telkom Media was bought out by Super5media. The service has not launched yet due to license issues. Therefore Julian has moved on and joined DIGMU as co-owner and Rockstar4000. Julian continues to look for new ways to develop entertainment and technology through online, mobile, IPTV and satellite.

ABOUT DANIELA DELL’ACQUA VON PLATO – MD DIGMU Daniela holds an IMM Diploma in Marketing. Daniela has spent the past decade developing her niche in Digital Media. Daniela began her career in the South African music industry in 2000 as the Digital Marketing Manager at EMI Music SA and was responsible for the first viral music campaign (Placebo) as well developing the first record company website in South Africa. Daniela has since gone on to work with leading international brands such as Softline, MTV Networks, Universal Group, Arvato Mobile SA (Pty) Ltd, SA Music Awards (RiSA), Sony Brand Activation (Client: Vodacom). Daniela has worked with leading contributors in South African entertainment to create unique content offerings via the web and mobile. Daniela continues to offer consulting services to all major music industry players in South Africa. Daniela is currently working on developing a digital entertainment strategy for Africa with Rockstar4000. With over 14 years experience in Digital, Marketing and Media in the entertainment / music & IT industries, Daniela’s roles have included:

Development & management of the SA Music Awards website. Management of the entry/judging/results system. Developed and managed the social media platforms – over 15,000 fans interacted on these dedicated SAMA platforms. Produced South Africa’s first ever SAMA backstage Live Webcast. This featured 3 leading South African hosts interviewing artists and winners over a 3 hour live show broadcast online and mobile. Daniela’s role was to formulate and execute digital media campaigns and social media awareness strategies for the entire SA Music Awards event (2010). Created and developed over 50 different viral campaigns for artists from the EMI stable. Contributed to EMIs online policies.
