Reiki Learning Reiki can change your life for the better, forever. It can help you discover your inner self as well as enabling you to heal yourself and others. Reiki is Japanese for Universal Life Force Energy. Reiki techniques are simple, gentle and highly effective. Anyone can learn Reiki for self-treatment, as well as for helping others. It is a great way to reduce stress and promote relaxation through placing your hands on, or near, areas of the body for the energy to flow. Reiki also combines well with other complementary therapies. Reiki 1 Course - Sat & Sun 2nd & 3rd July 10am to 4.30pm £139 Reiki Level One course focuses on what Reiki is and what it can do for you. This includes the history of Reiki, how to give it, and the proper way of using it – with lots of hands on practice giving and receiving Reiki. Upon completion of the 2 day course you will be able to use Reiki for self-healing; to help friends and family and to stimulate personal and spiritual growth. Manuals are provided, and certification is awarded upon completion of personal practice. Groups are kept small for personal attention, so book early. Students have found the courses friendly, fun and to be a “life changing weekend retreat”. Reiki Level 2 and 3 course levels can be arranged upon request. Christina Norwich, Reiki Master & Teacher, teaches authentic Reiki. The following are also available at the Letchworth Centre: • Reiki treatments - Fridays 2pm to 8pm & Saturdays 10am to 3pm • Monthly Reiki Share Group - 1st Friday each month 8pm (for those who have learnt Reiki Level One) For further information contact Christina on christina.norwich@ntlworld.com or phone 01462 622852

Five Rhythms Dance Workshops TM

A natural wave of energy we all experience, though we may not describe it like this. In the dance, we start off moving slowly, gather momentum, reach a peak, surf down the other side of the wave, and relax in the wake of it all. Join a friendly group of dancers who love the fact they can't do it wrong (there are no steps to learn), can go at their own pace (we take care of ourselves), don't have to do anything they don't want to (everyone loves this one!), and have permission to move as the spirit moves them. Great music, nice space, and an event that has never happened before quite like it will on this particular Sunday morning!

Workshops on Sundays, 22 May & 3 July at 10.00-13.00 – cost £20 each To book your place contact Richard Lang on 07968 845825 or email lang@gn.apc.org 15

The exercise ball is a wonderful Pilates tool for improving core strength and developing the abdominal and back muscles. Exercising ‘on the ball’ - which continually moves slightly beneath you as you work (which is why it is so effective at activating the core muscles) – can also increase overall flexibility and mobility. And it’s such fun to do! Open to both beginners and more experienced Pilates students. (You will need to provide your own ball.) Pilates designed for Osteoporosis and Osteopenia As people age, they can become prone to low bone density (osteopenia and osteoporosis) which causes the bones to become weak and brittle. This course includes Pilates exercises designed to strengthen the core muscles in a way that helps support the spine whilst avoiding any exercises that are not suitable for people with osteoporosis or osteopenia. We use weights (where appropriate) to promote bone strength and also include balance work, important as we get older. The class finishes with relaxation.
