SALES OF the bloke’s version of the Wonderbra have rocketed recently at Debenhams. Debenhams’ online sales of the anatomy-enhancing underwear rocketed by an extraordinary 76 per cent in the week leading up to Valentine’s Day, as men and women snapped them up. The underpants work by using a pioneering lift and holding feature on the front which supports without squeezing, allowing for maximum comfort. The Hom Black Addict push up hipsters, £18, are available online now at www.debenhams.com.
YOUTHFUL SCENT STAND ASIDE Armani, Hugo Boss and CK, there’s a new label on the block when it comes to cool masculine fragrances for men. Rich Boyz from the forthcoming designer clothing brand Flight and Label (www.flightandlabel.co.uk) has launched its first product which has been specifically developed for the younger male market. Aimed at the 21-35 market, Rich Boyz is a carefully blended formula with top notes of bergamot, lemon and neroli, heart notes of fruity marine aspects, and base notes of amber and cedarwood, giving a refreshing and powerful scent ideally suited to younger male skin. Rich Boyz is available online for an introductory price of £19 (plus £4.50 postage).
STEPPING OUT GENTLEMEN, WHY not let your shoes do the talking (as well as the walking) this spring? Marks & spencer has just launched its exclusive range of Autograph by Jsen Wintle shoes, which follows the success of the capsule collection of clothes and accessories which hit the stores last autumn. With the London designer’s signature eye for detail, the highlight of the range is the leather Oxford brogue, £59.50 (pictured), which feature a smart and stylish patent leather panel.
CLEAN START FOR TEEN SKIN OH, THE trials and tribulations of teenage life: one day, you’re a smooth-faced little angel, the next, a spot-infested creature from hell. There’s no quick fix to all the traumas of being a teen, but at least Dermalogica has come up with a great new tonic for that biggest horror of adolescent horrors – zits! Dermalogica’s new Clean Start skincare range couldn’t have been better timed for son Sam. Now aged 15, he has spent most of his tender teens trying to keep the ravages of spots at bay, with lotions and potions cluttering up his bedroom and the family bathroom – we even picked up a prescription from the doc’s as a last resort. But alas, it was all in vain – slowly it dawned on us that Sam – and my purse – were losing ground in the battle of the breakouts, so perhaps it was best to let nature take its course. And then Dermalogica unveiled its new Clean Start range, which is formulated especially for sensitive teen complexions. I’m a big fan of Dermalogica anyway, and Sam didn’t take much persuasion to give it a go. There are eight products to choose from, so everyday cleansing routines can be tailored to specific needs (see panel). The range is very teen-friendly, looks as good as it feels, and is very light and easy to use. The emphasis is very much on skin health, rather than ‘beauty’, and Clean Start doesn’t contain any artificial fragrances or colours, stripping alcohol or aggressive ingredients which irritate the skin, and can actually encourage the excess oiliness which leads to spots. Despite the myriad “distractions” of teen life, Sam quickly settled into a skincare routine – religiously cleansing, toning and moisturising every day. At the time of writing, he has been using Clean Start for three weeks, and the difference is quite astonishing. It’s by no means a miracle cure, but the angry red breakouts on his face and neck have receded
The future’s clear for 15-year-old Sam substantially, and there have been no major new flare-ups. In his own words – which in typical teen speak are few and far between – Clean Start is the best he’s used. High praise indeed!
