2nd Year Portfolio Alec Fisette


Craft Summer At Miami University there is a summer program that celebrates and teaches the arts to students who are eager to learn. This design not only celebrates the event but celebrates design. It gives those who are enrolled in this program to engage directly with art and find inspiration in the environment they are working in. This design is located in an open area just outside of art and performance buildings. With this direct connectcion to the arts it was crucial to create a space that inspired inhabitants and added to the creative environment.


Transit Station The goal for this projectc was to produce a design for a small transit station just outside of Miami University’s campus. With my transit design I focused primarily on motion. With an attempt to convey the feeling of motion through my design. The roof structure and the columns that support it are the focal points. The columns themselves touch no part of the structure. Rather there would be cables attached to the roof structure, making them feel as if they were floating. Even the platforms do not interact with the columns. Holes in the platform suggest they are floating as well. All of this comboned would look to create a light weight, dynamic structure that not only serves its intended purpose but makes it an entertaining experience for all visitors.


Clifton Young Adult Library This project’s goal was to design a library for young adults (Teens) that reside in Clifton, a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio. With this design I looked to produce a design that brought new life to this area. Cultural diversity is a valuable piece of the fabric of this area and my goal was welcome all people to gather at this location. The facade would consist of a glass curtain wall that would hint at the structure of the building as well as the activities going on inside. The inside would feature brick as the primary material in an attempt to bring a common material to the area inside and make the structure really feel as if it belongs in the area. A large garden is the focus of the building and sits in the middle with all other programming arranged around this space. This indoor garden ensures a year-long green space that inhabitants of the area can always enjoy.
