WEEKLY AT First Baptist Lyman
As I write to you this afternoon our church family has many in need. We have many struck by the flu, touched by cancer, coping with the death of a loved one, facing financial challenges, in need of work…the list is long. We all have needs. Let us join our hearts together and pray for God to use His Body to care for one another. Let us encourage and hope together, recognizing that “all things work together for the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose.” What’s that purpose? Our purpose is to glorify Him in everything we say, everything we do, and every thought that flows between our ears. Glory to God…now that’s perspective that will always lead to victory! This Sunday evening will be our next First Joy. We’ll be sharing a time of testimony and worship, information concerning the ministries of our church, and receiving nominations for a team to lead in refreshing our sanctuary. Please be praying about this and join us Sunday evening, 6:00PM in the sanctuary, to be followed by a time of fellowship. I love you all so much. It’s a joy to worship with you each week. I hope you’ll join this Sunday morning as we look again at the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Ephesians. God bless, Pastor Scott

Musical Notes The Senior Adult Choir meets for rehearsals on Tuesday at 10:00 AM in the choir room. We have been learning a beautiful musical for the Easter season and some great new “old” songs. In addition to our “road trips,” we will be singing on Sunday evening and morning worship services in just a few weeks. Come and be a part of the celebration! The Adult Choir meets for rehearsal on Wednesdays at 7:10 PM. We are preparing for an Easter celebration for our congregation and to share in the community. You don’t want to miss the joy of ministry through song! Senior Adults We are planning a trip to The Explorations in Antiquity Center, in LaGrange, Georgia, on Thursday, April 7th. This is a full scale replica of various locations and activities from Biblical times. The tours include an authentic Passover Meal, and a “Follow the Cross” walk, focusing on the Easter Season. This unique learning experience will enhance your Bible study as 2000 year old customs and tastes are brought to life. The cost for this trip will be $75.00 per person. Sign up sheets are available in your Bible Study classes. The deadline for sign-up is Sunday, March 20th. At the Joy Fellowship next Tuesday, March 8th, we will be sharing some mission and ministry opportunities very near to our location. There is no expiration date on serving the Lord. Come with an open heart and an open mind and see how God may use you. One Final Note I watch a lot of HGTV. Don’t judge me. I’m not a “design diva.” Where questions of taste are present, I generally defer to others. I still have zebra striped parachute pants in my drawer. (Hey! They might come back in style.) No, it has very little to do with taste and style. What I like about it is how rooms go from an ugly, chaotic mess to a well-organized and beautiful space in 30 minutes. This transformation comes as a result of a designer’s plan, skilled craftsmen, and physical resources being applied to a problem. I like to see that take place because it reminds me that the chaos and ugliness that pops up in my life is subject to the plans of the Designer of the universe. He is working as a Master Craftsman with unlimited resources, to shape the events and circumstances of life for my good and His glory. Romans 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. (NASB) Don’t be discouraged by sawdust and wet paint. God has a beautiful and perfect plan. He is getting His people, His house ready for “the big reveal.” To God Be The Glory!
Joy Fellowship Tuesday, March 8 6:00 PM We have a special treat this month. Seven-year-old Emma Brooks Alley will be singing for us, so come and enjoy this evening of food, fellowship, and entertainment!

From the Minister OF Students & Education DiscipleNow Weekend 2011 Kingdom Come
Please pray for the Student Ministry as we go into our DiscipleNow Weekend. When most of us think about the Kingdom of God, we think about something that will happen in the future. But when we look in Scripture, we see that it is already happening right now. And when we hear Jesus speak about the Kingdom in Mark 12:28-34, we see what the Kingdom is all about: loving God with all we are and loving our neighbor as ourselves. Please join us in praying for students to come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior this weekend, and pray for the Holy Spirit to give us a hunger to be about His Kingdom and Christ’s glory. Pray for God to give us fun times of fellowship, safety in all our activities, incredible times of worship, cooperative technology, and great opportunities to show His love both to each other and to the community as we do local missions projects. Here is a list of students, leaders, and agencies that will be participating this weekend. Please pray for each one by name this week: Angie Brown, worship leader Mark Brown, worship leader Erin Bailey, worship leader Will Greer, worship leader Benji Ladd, speaker Ricky Stark, student minister Bobby & Paulette Bentley, host home Ryan & Vanessa Chavous, host home Jim & Tina McMillan, host home Kelvin & Avonda Mitchem, host home Stuart Bailey, small group leader David Burt, small group leader Marcus Fuller, small group leader Hayley Smith, small group leader Jonathan Vick, small group leader Marianna Vick, small group leader Sarah Vick, drama leader Jim & Kim Carey Monica Link Tollie & Ashley Gosnell Greg Wood Carolina Pregnancy Center Miracle Hill of Spartanburg Beech Springs Intermediate Middle Tyger Community Center
