ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR SUN., MAY 15 & WED., MAY 18 WELCOME GUESTS! The 1,800 baptized members of First Lutheran hold hospitality to visitors among our greatest priorities. We understand that visiting a church can feel overwhelming. Please know that ALL are welcome to worship, commune and participate in all church activities, programs and events. We hope you can make time to stop at the Welcome Center in the front entry where we have a gift for you. It’s also a great place to ask questions, gather information and share ways that we may keep in touch with you. We’re glad you’re here! CONNECTION CARDS Connection Cards help the staff keep in touch with the needs of members and visitors alike. Please fill out a Connection Card each week, complete with prayer concerns and anything else you’d like the Pastors to know. Hand it to an usher on your way forward for communion, or place it in the offering plate. Thanks! PREPARING OURSELVES FOR WORSHIP Please consider using your time in the sanctuary before worship as a time of personal preparation for an encounter with God. Our musicians seek to create a prayerful time and space meant to assist in your preparation. Conversation is, of course, an essential part of our fellowship that deserves its own time and space. Our entry area (narthex) is perfect for those conversations before and after worship services.
This year’s Confirmation Celebration will be from 5pm to 8pm on Wednesday, May 18, at Rowe Park. This event is for all confirmation students, their parents and their small-group guides. The cook-out will be followed by a special worship led by the students.

VOLUNTEER FOR COME FOR SUPPER
First Lutheran is helping with Come for Supper at Our Savior’s in La Crosse on Tuesday, May 24. Sign up at the Welcome Center to either bring food or help with serving and cleanup.
NEWSLETTER ASSEMBLY Helping to assemble the monthly newsletter is a relaxing way to volunteer. The June newsletter will be assembled Friday, May 27, at 9am, at the church. See you there!
This group is for parents/guardians and their children ages birth to 3 years old, and meets the last Sunday, at 9:15am in room 102. We sing, dance, play, and pray together to learn ways to raise our little Christians in the home. We have time with the kids and time with just the adults. During the adult time, we have volunteers come in and play with our children as we talk. We welcome newcomers all the time — join us on May 29!
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR SYNOD ASSEMBLY
PROVIDE A CHAIR AT THE TABLE
YOUNG YOUTH TRIP TO WISCONSIN DELLS
Volunteers play an important role in making the annual Synod Assembly run smoothly, starting with registration on Friday evening and throughout the weekend. This year, Synod Assembly is June 10-12 at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. Volunteers receive free room and board. The synod is looking for volunteers to help in hospitality roles, and the worship team is looking for trumpet and trombone players. To volunteer or learn more, contact Betty Sacia at 608.526.3506 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Young Youth will go to Noah’s Ark in Wisconsin Dells on Tuesday, June 14. Though this is a youth event, it will be more like a family outing. RSVP to email@example.com.
YY EXPLORER DAY AT SUGAR CREEK On Tuesday, July 12, the Young Youth will go to Sugar Creek for an exciting one-day adventure at Sugar Creek. Explore camp with games, nature time, crafts, swimming, a pony ride, Bible study, singing and more! The cost is $20 a camper and includes a lunch and a snack. We will meet at the church at 7:40am and return between 4:30pm and 5pm. RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We will celebrate our many volunteers at the annual Volunteer Appreciation Picnic from noon to 2pm on Sunday, July 24, at Rowe Park. Mark your calendar.
THIS WEEK: May 15–22
All year we have been talking about how God shows up when we Come to the Table. As we renovate the Fellowship Hall, where milestones, meals and more happen, we need new chairs to safely rest upon our new floor. Please consider making a special gift to the Fellowship Hall Fund. A quality banquet chair costs about $75, but gifts of all sizes are, of course, welcome. Thank you for providing a “Chair at the Table.” First Lutheran Church, Onalaska, is seeking a part-time nursery attendant for children younger than 5. Times might include Sunday mornings but would mostly be for evenings. Call 608.783.2236 for more information.
With the changing seasons, the First Teen Clothes Closet is getting ready for summer. We welcome donations of shorts, short-sleeved shirts, sandals and swimwear. We also still need boys’ jeans, particularly in sizes 32x34 and 32x36, and girls’ leggings. Please hold on to your winter items until the fall, as we have limited space for storing out-of-season clothes.
