2022 Côtes du Rhône, France
The 2022 vintage in the Rhône Valley was marked by resilience in the face of challenging conditions. Despite heatwaves, drought, and hailstorms, the valley persevered to produce high-quality wines by capitalizing on the benefits of these weather events and successfully avoiding their potential pitfalls. This resulted in richly concentrated red wines made from smaller yields that showcase the expertise of local vintners and the exceptional quality of this historic terroir.
Amidst the picturesque landscape of France’s Rhône Valley lies the storied wine appellation of Côtes du Rhône. Here, vineyards stretch along the winding Rhône River, with terraced slopes and rolling hills providing a breathtaking backdrop for the cultivation of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre. These prized varietals thrive in the warm Mediterranean climate, cooled by Mistral winds, giving Côtes du Rhône red wines their robust, fruit-forward character and formidable structure.
On the nose of our Rhône blend, you can smell every part of a black cherry, from the skin to the pulp. An aromatic parade of spices follows, featuring ginger, anise and five spice. These notes continue through to the palate, where white pepper, cinnamon and fennel seed join the show. This wine’s full body, modest acidity and structured tannins create a textured, food-friendly mouthfeel that supports its rich, oaky and spicy character.

Examples of complementary sauces, seasonings, and marinades include rosemary sauces, garlic, thyme, and soy-gingerfive-spice marinades.
