‘CHINTAN’
BEGINS Anita Hada
S
o the big day, which the entire Indian National Congress had been waiting for, came on Friday when the ‘stars’ descended in the ‘City of Lakes’ to mull amongst themselves the future course and to decide in their own conscience, what the party means to them. Party president Sonia Gandhi, in her clarion call, has asked the leaders to start thinking about the party and let not be consumed by their differences, rather put up a united front against Opposition. In short, Sonia drew the outlines of the
‘Nav Sankalp’ that party leaders will have to make not just to their colleagues, but also to themselves to bring about a turnaround for the party. Congress’ first day of ‘Chintan’ was the harbinger of much anticipated ‘structural changes’ in party’s policy where it has been stressed that the party will not entertain any parachute candidate, or giving multiple tickets in one family. In addition more ‘resounding’ changes are promised to the party workers after the three day exercise is over. Now, all eyes are now glued on the second and third days to find out as to how the top leaders from across the nation are planning to breathe new life into the Grand Old Party!
