McCaw Livestock

Holy! What a fall, or should I say, what a year it is has been! Even though this year was very unpredictable, I am convinced that it has not affected the predictable quality of my offering. I am very satisfied with this year’s contribution, as it comes from the heart of my program. I am very proud of the little herd I have built up to date; small in numbers, great in quality. I am confident that the purebred lots I am offering will be tremendous maternal matrons to add to anyone’s herd. The bull calf I have available is a guy that I am very high on and is a result of some of the greatest genetics in the industry. The mature herd sire is one that I will always remember. He is consistent with his birth weights and his calves arrive in a low and easy manner. The Commercial females, I believe, will be females that will create a lot of conversation and be sought after by many. Certainly, a desired group that will bring progeny home in the fall that will weigh down the scales. Thank you to everyone that has shown great interest and confidence in my program, through inquiries or purchases. I can’t thank you enough. It certainly has been a great pleasure doing business with everyone, and the people I have met along the way are second to none. I am excited for what the journey ahead will bring! I truly look forward to the new people I have yet to meet and create a new business relationship with. Thank you to my girlfriend Shailyn Madsen and to Erik Larsson Wilkstrom for all the help that they have done the last couple of months. Thank you once again for believing in my program and good luck with your purchases. I look forward talking to you all.

welcome from

First Class

Welcome to the McCaw Livestock Online Production Sale. Wacey and the McCaw team have assembled an excellent set of cattle for your appraisal. Although small in numbers, it lacks absolutely nothing in overall quality. Wacey starts the catalogue by selling choice of daughters out of the two most prolific mother cows that have ever walked the pastures at McCaw Livestock. The daughters of these cows are the right kind that you would be proud to let stand out in the front pasture. These lots are truly features of the Charolais sale season. Also on offer is another small select group of purebred bred heifers and open calves as well as a very powerful group of tan bred heifers and a group of “clubby style open commercial heifers that any junior can purchase and campaign at junior shows all spring and summer. Please feel free to give Wacey a call to talk about his offering personally. The team here at First Class Cattle Marketing is also very familiar with the sale cattle so please give us a call. It would be our pleasure to represent you in a professional and confidential manner. The sale will be broadcast Online Only on DLMS Farmgate Auctions. Feel free to contact Mark Shologan with any questions. Merry Christmas,

Footnote for 839F and 839G These young ladies are wicked! They are a pair that makes a person’s heart beat fast. Deep middled, long spined, in a sleek, sexy package. The dam came from a pick of the Winn-Mann cow herd. The sire is the main herd sire here at McCaw Livestock – a bull I think very highly of. I admire him for his length of body and softness that he puts into his calves;

the easy keeping kind that everyone desires. These two possess a very attractive pedigree, and if that doesn’t catch your attention, the appearance of them certainly will! I am offering choice on these two gals, because that’s how highly I think of them, and I am just not wanting to let both of them go. Retaining a flushing opportunity in the female chosen at the buyer’s convenience and the seller’s expense.

Bred to Anchor 311A on May 20, 2019. Due February 26, 2020, safe to this date.

She comes from the hardest working dam that I have on the farm. SLL 70 X has been a very good producer that makes progeny that everybody wants. The bred heifer sired by Moty is very intriguing with her sire coming with some of the most sought-after pedigreed progeny. This girl is very balanced in her make-up, long spined, lots of spring of rib that has momma cow written all over it. She is going to be a very good producer. Retaining a flushing opportunity in the female chosen at the buyer’s convenience and the seller’s expense.

Wow. She must have fallen from heaven. She is an Angel that I believe is going to have an impact on the breed. The pedigree stacked up on this heifer is unbelievable. Progeny containing the Wilgenbush blood lines have raised thousands of dollars. I remember Craig telling me one day that this cow family had one of the biggest impacts at their place. This girl is a sweetheart in her feminine, elephant bellied, structure. This heifer has front pasture written all over her. She is going to make the neighbors slow down, when they drive by, to admire her stout presence. I am excited to see this heifer’s future. Selling half interest. Possession negotiable, with the option to double down. I would also like to retain a flush in her.

This is a bull calf that I think might be the best one to walk this farm in his stout masculine presence. He gives you that look that he knows he is good. Really soft muscled with lots of quarter that we all strive for, straight in his lines with a mammoth like middle section. Probably the thing I desire the most is how he gets out and moves like a cat in a clean sheathed package. Selling full possession and 50% semen interest.

I might have just fell on my head here folks. This might be the most affordable buy that someone could have this year. The potential this guy still has and the impact that he is bound to have on the new owner’s herd is unparallel. This herd sire has done his job very successfully here. This guy, as well as his progeny, are very easy keeping, deep-middled, and the daughters are beautifully uddered. Anchor has been used very prominently on heifers here and the birth weights were between 80-87lbs, with ease. The opportunities are endless with this guy and his future is still bright. Look at some of the progeny and you will want to be the winning bidder sale day. Retaining 100 straws of In Herd Use Semen.

Tan Commercial Bred Heifers These girls are gems. 7F and 8F are Anchor sired and they are a testament to how he makes his females. Soft made, jumbo bellied, yet still very particular in their lines. They both come out of high percentage Angus cross Simmental cows. 48F is out of a high percentage Simmental Mo Better cow. The sire of 48F is MOTY. I really love this bull for the length of spine and the tidiness he adds to his progeny. All of these females are going to be mommas that bring calves home in the fall that push down the scale. It was evident again this fall that it is those heavy calves that puts money in your pocket, maybe allowing a guy to buy a John Deere tractor!

RACEHORSE STYLE CLOSE with extended bidding time at DLMS.ca Sale lots will be open for bidding at 9:00 a.m. SK time Tuesday, December 3, 2019. Extended bidding time begins at 6:00 p.m. SK time, Wednesday, December 4. When no bidding activity has occurred on any lot for five minutes after 6PM, or for 2 minutes after 6:30, or for one minute after 7PM, the computer will then declare the sale closed on all lots.

How to Participate in this DLMS Farm Gate Auction with Extended Bidding: 1. Visit www.dlms.ca, Scroll down to the sale name, click to find the sale page. After you have found the sale you are interested in, click the LOGIN/REGISTRATION button. First time users will select the REGISTER button from this page. Fill out the registration form to sign-up for a free user account and it allows you to select a username and password for use on all Farm Gate Timed auctions. This program will send you text and email messages whenever there is activity on your favorite lots or someone challenges your proxy bid and this is why you will be asked for both your current email and cell phone number. If you are a past participant in the Farm Gate Timed auctions simply enter your user name and pass word to continue. This takes you to a list of both current and upcoming Farm Gate Auctions. 2. Lots, pictures, videos and links to a catalogue will be posted with opening starting bids and additional up-to-date catalogue information & changes to the sale offering. Go to the sale page and click on lots of interest to view the up to-date sale lot info, pictures and videos on each lot selling. 3. You can choose your favourite lots in this sale at this time and the program will allow you to open either all sale lots or just your favorite lots on your screen. Any time there is active bidding on a lot you have identified on your favorite list you will get a text and/or an email noting this activity. 4. The program allows you to place a proxy bid on any sale lot. This in fact protects your interest in any lot of interest for you to a specified dollar value you set, when you may not be able to give 100% attention to the sale. If the lot has a $2000 bid on it and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you but if someone else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for you, this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maximum of $3500. If another bidder is on at $3600, your proxy will no longer be effective and you will no longer have the winning bid on this lot without once again logging in and bidding again or moving your attention to a second lot of interest. 5. The sale is scheduled to enter a 5 minute extended bidding time at 6 o’clock MST time. Any bid received after 6 PM will extend the sale by 5 minutes from the time of that bid. If bidding continues past 6:30 any bid after that time will extend bidding time by only 2 minutes and if bidding continues past 7 PM any bids will then only extend the deadline by one minute. When no bidding occurs in any of these extended sessions the computer will declare the sale finished. 6. Within 24 hours of the sale close Richardson Ranch will contact all winning bidders to arrange payment, transfer of pedigrees and delivery of your lot. If you require assistance with using the new DLMS Farm Gate web site, if you don’t understand how to create a favorites list, if you can’t figure out the proxy bid or you just plain want to bid via phone, please talk to any of the DLMS team or sale consignors. We can help you make DLMS Farm Gate Auctions work for you!
