The Messenger firsT bapTisT hunTsville First thoughts David hull, Pastor the time has come for me to take another study leave. Every five years of ministry I am granted a time to get away for sabbatical and study. The Study Leave will be spent in Birmingham and Louisville. My goal is to have the time to begin a writing project. Samford University and Southern Seminary will provide resources for research and writing. I will be with you this Sunday and will preach in the morning and evening. My plans are to leave town on Tuesday afternoon, June 25 and return to preach on Sunday, August 18. In the meantime, our ministerial staff will be prepared to help you with pastoral and leadership needs while I am away. Jud Reasons, our Associate Pastor, will give leadership to the staff in my absence. I am looking forward to these days of rest, renewal, and study. The last five years have been extremely busy for me professionally and personally. This sabbatical comes at a good time for me, and I am most grateful for the opportunity provided by our church for a study leave. While I am away I encourage you to continue to be faithful in attendance, stewardship and service. Great things are happening in our church these days and I know that they will continue without missing a beat while I am away. We have planned a schedule of preachers for Sunday mornings who will provide excellent worship leadership. A combination of staff members and people from Samford University will fill out the preaching rotation. Staff members will lead Prayer Meetings on Wednesday nights and a series of special services will be held on Sunday nights. We will not meet on Sunday nights during the month of July. Family Bible Camp was a huge success! Many thanks to those who led and those who participated! Also, big thanks to those who loaned us decorations and helped us transform our spaces into ancient Athens, Greece. Our “family” at FBC ranged in age from 3 – 80, with attendees from all walks of life and all areas of ministry within our church – from Deacons, Choir, Trustees, Sunday School teachers, parents, grandparents, students, children, Leadership council and staff – what fun we had!
