Volume 65 / Week Number 3 / January 16, 2014

The Messenger firsT bapTisT hunTsville FiRST ThouGhTS David hull, Pastor The Madison Baptist Association is sponsoring a special evangelistic event for Madison County. Many churches are joining together to present “The Bridge” at the VBC on March 9-12, 2014. Steve Hale will be the evangelist and Bob Smith (from Huntsville) will be leading the music. In addition to the nightly meetings in the arena of the VBC, Steve will be speaking to a number of schools in our area during the days. All churches in the area are encouraged to join in this effort to reach people with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our church has already been connected to this event as Ray Jones, a church member, and I serve on the Finance Team in support of this event. Our Missions Committee has already allocated funds to be given from our church to provide generous financial support. Now I want to invite you to participate. You can learn more at www.thebridgeevent.com. There are many ways that you can join in with this community-wide evangelistic effort. Musicians will be invited to sing in a crusade choir or play in an orchestra. Our Music Ministry office will have details about this avenue of participation. Most importantly, you can be inviting your friends who are not connected to a church home or who do not know Christ to come with you to The Bridge. Please pray for our meetings together and for God to move in the lives of people who will be in attendance. In addition to what I have mentioned above, I am copying in below some announcements from the Association about how you can be a part of this special event. Choose the best way for you to be engaged in The Bridge and join in and be a part of the team. Everyone is invited to the weekly prayer gathering in Huntsville at Shea’s Express Restaurant, 415 Church St. NW, every Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. We need 500 counselors for “The Bridge” event. People can sign-up online (thebridgeevent.com) or call the associational office at 256-536-0015. Notice on the website the times of counselor training. We will be collecting good, non-perishable canned food goods/items each night of “The Bridge” to benefit the needy in our area. See the website for details. Huntsville homeowners’ “The Bridge” yard signs available for pick-up at the MBA office on February 4. “The Bridge” door hangers for neighborhood distribution available for pick-up at the MBA office on February 4.
