Fatality at SSP MVA In the early morning of May 22, 2022, the Wantagh Fire Department, along with various police department resources, operated on the scene of a single-vehicle accident involving a car versus tree with overturn. The incident was located on the eastbound side of Southern State Parkway just east of the Wantagh State Parkway. The driver of the vehicle, the only occupant, did not survive the accident. A Helluva’ Way to Wake Up The Westbury Fire Department and Nassau County Police responded to an MVA on Cypress Lane East about 0055 on May 12, 2022. The driver of a pickup crossed a grassy median and lawn of a home before crashing through the front of the house. The truck drove through the front door area, then a bedroom, where a 13-year-old was sleeping, narrowly missing the bed. The truck continued out the side of the house and through a fence before stopping. The driver fled from the scene and was arrested a short time later. The driver was later charged with DWI, operating a motor vehicle without a license and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage. - Fire News photo by Paul Mazza
Fatality on the WSP In the early morning hours of May 7, 2022, the Wantagh Fire Department along with NCPD ESU Responded to the Wantagh State Parkway for a car versus tree MVA with reported entrapment. Units arrived to a single-vehicle MVA into a tree. Units cut open the driver’s door, and medics pronounced the driver at the scene.
