Reviews: "FIP are a six-piece who specialise in lo-fi melodramatic indie – there are hints of Pulp, Smiths, Strokes, Franz et al; you get the picture." - Liam Jolly, Access All Areas “perfectly at home among the likes of The Smiths, Pulp or any of the classic British indie bands while the vocals are reminiscent of Bowie’s laid back, half spoken, half sung delivery … they certainly know how to put a song together. Their indie roots are mixed with a strong pop sensibility and delicately written lyrics.” - “…the calm pacing of its orchestral pop communicates surprising confidence (not to mention competence). The music recollects The Sea and the Cake or even Chin Up Chin Up in places, tempered with a spiky energy that suggests a very, very sleepy Los Campesinos! Fire Island Pines’ arresting amalgamation of jangly guitars, persistent trumpet and murmured lyrics makes for a very listenable debut.” - From top: Fire Island Pines at the Grain Barge in Bristol, at the Studio Bar in Penzance and at Bunters in Truro.

Biog: When laconic singer-songwriter Anton Rothschild (who’d been quietly releasing his own maudlin pop over the internet) stumbled into a band of Cornish indie wanderers with their own unique blend of talents, Fire Island Pines was formed. Together they have woven Anton’s bleak lyrics into jaunty, uplifting songs punctuated by shimmering trumpet lines and an unholy tri-guitar wall-of-jangle. The result is a bittersweet pop parcel that is both distinctive and accessible.
