Great Taste never fails to deliver on its promise. Last year, not even the pandemic could stop its revered and robust judging process (devised and organised by the Guild of Fine Food) from unearthing some of the best food & drink on the planet. And 2021 was no different in that respect. Yes, social distancing remained a feature of the blind-tasting sessions but in just 86 days, a record number of entries – some 14,113 – was whittled down to those deemed worthy of awards. It took a team of 355 judges – a group that includes food critics, chefs, restaurateurs, retail buyers, and journalists – to determine the results. And they are now in. In total, 4,027 products were awarded a 1-star, and there were 1,138 2-star winners. But just 218 items were deemed to be worthy of the coveted 3-star award. That last bracket is the focus of this publication, and you can read more about each one, and what the judges thought about them, right here.
