Monday, AUGUST 19th

OWT 6:30PM

Tudor Oaks has a new way to connect the bike/walking path and our Tudor Oaks property! You can access this bridge if you walk behind the dog park. This bridge was built for a safe transition to the path. At times, it is very muddy and uneven. All the boys are now sophomores from Franklin High School, but they started cub scouts together in first grade at Robinwood Elementary School and have been together ever since! They are all working toward getting their Eagle Award before they graduate from high school.

Well Boys... Thank you! This project would have cost us much more money and time without their effort and giving up their Sunday! Parents too! Residents and staff will now be able to easily access this path, and it is because of you and your hard work!

We will be sending the boys a gift card as well as a thank you card. If you would like to write your own card, please do so and drop in Wendy’s mailbox by August 15th. We will then mail as a whole to the trooper leader!

She was born in Toronto, Ontario and grew up in Athens, Greece where her mother claims she showed a great interest in how stars form from the age of five. She studied physics at the University of Athens and went on to earn a Master’s degree from Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and a PhD in Astrophysics from the University of Waterloo. She began teaching astronomy at UW-Milwaukee in 1999 and in 2007, she took over as director of UWM's Manfred Olson Planetarium.

In 2014, Creighton was selected by NASA to be an Airborne Astronomy Ambassador and spent 20 hours in the stratosphere on SOFIA, the largest moving observatory in the world. She's very proud to have shared the cosmos with over 150,000 members of the community.

We have some exciting news to share with you! Thanks to a grant received by the Royal Neighbor Difference Maker Fund, we will be launching “Musical Connections” with some of our residents in Windsor Gardens and the Frances Henry Center. Research shows that music has the ability to reduce loneliness by fostering connections with others, elevate our mood by creating calmness on frustrating days and may even help to reduce pain. Sounds wonderful doesn’t it? Look for more information regarding new initiative in the coming weeks!

If you have questions, ask Pastor Michelle! She has been a leading force for ALZ Walk!

Inspirational Moment

Anyone who knows me knows that I love admiring God’s creation. I’m just in awe of it. I shared in chapel last month about how it amazes me every time I fly in an airplane and look out the window when we’re flying high above the clouds. It’s as if I can touch heaven. I love taking a drive through the mountains and seeing how they have been sustained for hundreds of years. Or, I get a big smile on my face when out of nowhere I see a random purple flower on the side of the road. God’s beauty is just everywhere.

Last month, I didn’t have to look very far to find it. I was blessed to escort one of the residents on her bike ride with volunteers from Cycling Without Age. I was able see the campus in a different light. I’ve always admired how beautiful our campus is. In my opinion, we have the most beautiful one in the Greater Milwaukee Area. As we road around the reflection pond, I was absorbing the scenery. I discovered a few things that I had never seen before. I saw what great thought and care our land scraper team (shout out to Donnie and his crew) put into making it look so beautiful. It truly made my heart smile. It made me realize that every day that God blesses us is a gift that shouldn’t be wasted. And, this impromptu bike ride made me appreciate, all the more, that beauty that God has placed before us to remind us of his daily presence. I’ve attached a few pictures from my ride. I hope it encourages you to get out and smell the roses.

As always….God loves you, so do I and there’s nothing you can do about it! Blessings, Pastor Michelle
