Sea Winds Lighthouse Road | St. Margarets Bay | Dover | CT15 6EJ

Seller Insight I moved here four years ago as I fell in love with the house the moment I opened the front door. However circumstances have changed and I shall be moving nearer to family and friends but if I could pick up the house and take it with me I would, as it is absolutely ideal whether you are spending time with your family and friends or just working or relaxing on your own. Apart from the house itself, the location is wonderful because it is so peaceful living along a private cul de sac that is maintained by the residents through the residents association. There are plenty of places to go for walks along the cliff tops, including to the South Foreland Lighthouse – the first ever lighthouse in the world to have electric light! Much of the surrounding land has been owned by the National Trust since 1974 so will never be built on. “You can stroll down to the bay and enjoy a drink at the famous Coastguard Inn or wander into the village. This provides everything you might need on a daily basis and includes a post office, village shop, a hotel and a pub. If you are permanent residents there are a wide range of societies and clubs including bowls, tennis, cricket and football as well as a history and horticultural society, among many others. Not to mention the St. Margaret’s players for those with a more theatrical bent. For the younger members of the community there are also very active scout, guide and brownie troops as well as two riding stables and excellent primary, secondary and private schools nearby. “St Margaret’s Bay has long been a magnet for famous names. Miriam Margolyes has a holiday home here while Lord Byron, Peter Ustinov, Noel Coward and Ian Fleming were among its past illustrious residents. Indeed it is said that ‘007’ was named after the number of the local bus! For regular commuters it is not far from Dover and Folkestone for access to the Continent and Martin Mill and Dover for the mainline station and high speed rail to London. It is only a short drive to the lovely town of Deal with its seafront, individual shops, bars and restaurants and the City of Canterbury with its high street stores, theatres, universities and historic buildings is within easy reach. For golfing aficionados there is the Walmer and Deal golf club while slightly further afield are famous championship links courses including the Royal St Georges and Princes in Sandwich and Royal Cinque Ports at Deal. Sailing enthusiasts can enjoy their sport through the Royal Cinque Ports Sailing club out of Dover.” * These comments are the personal views of the current owner and are included as an insight into life at the property. Step inside Sea Winds

Sea Winds is a superb contemporary property nestling along a quiet and tranquil private cul de sac in St Margaret’s Bay. It has immediate ‘kerb appeal’ from the moment you first set eyes on the elegant exterior with its cathedral style upper windows and attractive front porch. As you sweep through the entrance onto the ‘in and out’ brick paved driveway, flanked by raised flower beds and shrub borders, you will be impatient to see inside this veritable Tardis of a modern family home and, once inside the welcoming hallway with its ceramic tiles and underfloor heating, you won’t be disappointed. The house and garden have been beautifully maintained and new owners could walk straight in and not have to lift a finger except install their own furniture. The heart of this home is the large and well proportioned light and bright kitchen/breakfast room with its vast range of bespoke country style units incorporating a double oven, dishwasher and gas hob. There is also a good sized central island where you can sit and enjoy a cup of coffee looking out through the windows and french doors to the garden and countryside beyond. Adjacent to the kitchen is a utility room that leads to a very useful study with windows to the front so you can not only enjoy the view but see visitors arriving. As well as access from the hall there are double glass doors to the lounge/dining room from the kitchen, providing a delightful free flowing feeling and ideal for entertaining as it gives friends and family plenty of space to circulate and if you are hosting a dinner party you can pop in the kitchen, yet still be in contact with your guests. The ground floor also includes a cloakroom, storage facilities and a double bedroom with fitted cupboards and an en suite shower room. This is particularly useful for elderly visitors who might find the stairs difficult. Upstairs there is a spacious landing leading to an impressive master suite with a vaulted ceiling and stunning views across the countryside to the village as well as over the front garden, towards the sea. It includes an impressive bathroom with a bath and separate shower. There is also a second double bedroom, a family shower room and a well appointed dressing room with fitted cupboards down both sides. However, if required this could always revert back to being another bedroom. Additional storage is available in the attic that is boarded and includes power and lighting. Outside there are even more interesting surprises. The large terrace with its mini wall and steps down to the lawn and shrub borders is ideal for al fresco meals or just relaxing and enjoying the views. There is also a secondary terrace under a pergola and a courtyard style area outside the garage so you are able to follow the sun all day. Part of the garage has been converted into a study and this would make an excellent office for anyone who wants to work from home but not be disturbed as it not only has power, heating and lighting but also telephone lines and internet connections. However it could equally well be used as a playroom/games room or bar. There is a long drive from the front of the house to the garage accessed via large wooden gates that provide privacy and security.
