This beautifully maintained detached family home nestling within its 1.697 acres of magical garden with fabulous countryside views set in the charming village of Guston, should suit even the most discerning of potential owners. Whether you are walking up the steps to the entrance porch or parking your car on the long driveway in front of the double garage and attached car port, flanked by lawns and impressive trees and shrubs, you will be delighted with the external ambience that continues once you enter the light and bright reception hall. It leads to the large and attractive lounge with its bay window, overlooking the front garden at one end and patio doors leading to a partially-covered terrace at the other. Here, you can entertain any number of friends and family to al fresco dining and barbecues during the summer while enjoying the delights of the surrounding garden. There is a good-sized U-shaped kitchen area incorporating a selection of wooden units and built-in appliances as well as a large dining area for both entertaining and family life, adjacent to an equally well-fitted utility room that is virtually an extension to the kitchen, with access to the rear porch. Heating bills are kept to a minimum as the house includes an array of solar panels. Outside, the love and care that has gone into creating the beautiful garden and nature reserve is immediately apparent. For anyone who enjoys watching the wildlife the nature reserve has it all. The idyllic pond is a birds’ paradise, with a wide variety of native trees, shrubs and wild flowers. There is a fascinating Kota log cabin where you can enjoy views across the garden or getting cosy around the internal fire pit/bbq. – even when the weather outside is inclement – not to mention an ideal spot for a children’s adventure sleepover.

THE CURRENT OWNER SAYS: “What really appealed to us were the amazing views, whether it was the garden at the back or the fields with sheep and horses at the front.” “We bought this house some 32 years ago: we were working in the Middle East at the time, and spent the next five years improving the house before coming back to raise our children here. We reconfigured the main bedroom to include a large dressing area and en suite bathroom, as well as putting in a new family shower room. What really appealed to us were the amazing views, whether it was the garden at the back or the fields with sheep and horses at the front. We really love the nature reserve and particularly the pond where we can sit for hours just relaxing and watching the birds coming and going – we get a wide variety, including heron, sparrowhawks, buzzards, and a family of moorhens which nest on the pond every year.

“Our children were born here and it is has wonderful memories but, sadly, we feel the time has come to downsize and we are looking for a bungalow in the same area where we can create another lovely garden as we love it here. The village is very friendly with its own pub, church and two play parks for children of different ages. We are ideally situated for road and rail links, being close to the A2/M20, the high-speed trains from Dover Priory or Martin Mill as well as the Eurotunnel station at Folkestone. We are fortunate to be close to the large supermarkets and stores at Whitfield, while still having easy access to nearby Deal and St. Margaret’s with their wide range of restaurants, pubs, hotels and beaches. Combined with the excellent grammar and private schools in the area, we have everything we need right on our doorstep, but with the benefits of a rural lifestyle.”
