THE LAKE HOUSE

Tucked away off the fringe of the High Town, The Lake House is a hidden gem which many would not know to exist.

KEY FEATURES Boasting a delightful setting, this unique home is quite simply a fishermans paradise, enjoying a stocked lake of approximately 1 acre, to include Carp, Tench, Roach and Pike. The orientation of The Lake House has been purposefully designed to take full advantage of this incredible setting, enjoying a waterside frontage, along with uninterrupted views over the surrounding Shropshire countryside. The versatility of this super family home is a factor which must not be ignored…whilst offering five bedrooms on the first floor, the ground floorincludes an impressive seven reception rooms, upon which offer flexibility tosuit an extensive variety of lifestyles and the potential to really put their own stamp on this wonderful property. Through the private gated entrance, the forecourt offers generous parking, along with outbuildings to include an open double fronted car port and the former garage –which may offer potential for a possible annexe/Fishing lodge (subject to the required planning consents). We truly believe that this remarkable home would suit a range of buyers needs, from a growing family to the retired, for those that wish for tranquillity and a feeling of calm.

My husband is a keen fisherman, so he was extremely happy when he first viewed The Lake House and saw the freshwater lake. The house was in need of some attention, but it had a great feeling and we absolutely loved it from the very beginning,” recall the current owners.

SELLER INSIGHT We’ve lived here for 20 years and have made some great changes that have worked really well for us. We renovated throughout, including creating extra storage space and modernising the bathrooms but perhaps our favourite change has been the addition of the sunroom which leads into the bar and games room. Our family and friends love it too and we’ve enjoyed some really good times in here playing snooker, drinking at the bar and just catching up.” “I love living here, there’s always something going on and places to go. The steam railway is a particular favourite and we go there regularly and enjoy lunch on the train, whilst the 40s Weekend is another highlight of the year where people dress up and get right into the swing of things. There is something for everyone to enjoy, including the Fine Food festival, summer fair, firework display, charity walks and Christmas events. It’s such a friendly little town with a good choice of shops, restaurants and coffee shops too.” “We’ve enjoyed countless BBQs in the summer as we sit around the tables chatting and my husband fishes with his friends. It’s the same in winter, except I’m inside and he’s outside in the fresh air. I do take out flasks of coffee to warm them up though! The garden is such an extensive area with tables and chairs dotted around and we’ve enjoyed so many parties, including WI do’s with cake and tea served in the marquee, garden parties for charity, wedding receptions and a big retirement party for my husband. I also rehabilitate injured birds in conjunction with the wildlife sanctuary as the lake is the perfect spot to help them recover.” “The sunroom and entertainment area is a great space but we like to spend time in the family room too. It’s a cosy den where our grandchildren can safely play, or I can relax with my feet up watching my favourite history and nature programmes on the big tv. We’ve had some wonderful times here and we will miss The Lake House dreadfully, but the time is right to move on as it’s just the two of us rattling around now,” conclude the current owners.*

A haven for wildlife, the grounds are again positioned to focus on the main centre piece of the lake and continue to a further approximate 1 acre.

The lake has been such a big part of our life here with the fresh water flowing down from the Welsh hills.
