Once here we discovered a plethora of public footpaths that run across the open fields and through ancient woodland, all accessed by walking just minutes down one of the Nymet lanes. With the fast A377 link we’ve been able to spend a day in Exeter mooching around the big-brand shops or an evening in the Cathedral listening to music followed by a wide choice of restaurants to dine in. Likewise we can head over to Barnstaple, six miles from which is Instow beach with the fabulous ‘Boathouse’ where you can sit on the deck and enjoy the most amazing sea views. For days out with a picnic we head to Saltram beach – so vast it’s never crowded – and in between those two points are local breweries, honey farms, farm shops, garden centres and numerous historical places to visit and explore. In short, it’s a place that offered everything – and a bit more – that we had been looking for.” “Enfield house is around thirty years old, and when we moved in the interiors of both the main house and the next-door holiday cottage were a little old fashioned so we set about some internal remodeling. We added all new bathrooms, the kitchens were beautifully refurbished, doors were replaced and in some areas we also laid new flooring. Both are now in superb condition and ready for the new owners to enjoy.” Our favourite room – with a double ended bath big enough for two plus a bottle of fizz, and the bliss of a muscle relaxing power shower our favourite room could be the main bathroom. Our new light and airy kitchen with its happy Delft like floor tiles, matching units, warm timber tops and oh so handy breakfast bar to eat at whilst enjoying the view of the garden might just be a bigger favourite, but then there’s our deeply relaxing lounge with our much loved wood burning stove that transforms winter nights. There again, there’s the main bedroom with the full length window giving wonderous views of the fields ….. in short, we can’t choose. “Without doubt one of the nicest aspects of living in Nymet Rowland is having such wonderful neighbours. We’ve never, and may never again, meet such a friendly, warm and welcoming group of people. The social life – if you want it – is amazing, and everything is within walking distance. There are stairs to the first floor, which has a double bedroom, fitted shower room and further bedroom/sitting room. The holiday cottage also benefits from an enclosed patio terrace at the rear and has full architects plans to convert one garage are available.

The grounds of the main house are very well maintained with extensive lawns and terrace, all of which offer a pleasant and rural outlook over the surrounding countryside, a large garden pond, summer house and wooden shed.

There is mains water and a septic tank for sewerage and an oil tank for the central heating boiler.

We do know that outside our favourite place is the main patio, we never tire of watching an early morning dawn, or the animals in the fields, or just enjoying nature and our newly landscaped garden.�
