THE LOCATION The Anchor Guest House provides a mix of beautiful beach views, great accommodation, friendly service and good food, making it a perfect place to stay for a special break in Pembrokeshire. Situated within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, with the Pembrokeshire Coast Path passing right by the front door, walking, bird watching, boat trips to the islands, geological excursions, horseback riding, surfing, co-steering, cycling, and diving activities are all locally available. The property is literally a stone’s throw from the magnificent beach at Broad Haven right on the sea front, facing westwards onto safe and sandy shores. A peaceful haven from which to enjoy stunning sunsets over the bay and the sound and smell of the sea, along with being an ideal base for a variety of outdoor activities for which Pembrokeshire famous. Broad Haven is a quiet seaside village populated by full time residents and seasonal holiday makers, with a shop and post office, Baptist church, surf shop, pubs and cafes, a long sandy beach, an active year-round community with local school, football club, annual carnival, bustling with busy village life. The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path meanders along the shoreline and headland leading to an abundance of stunningly beautiful coves, beaches and villages including Newgale and Little Haven. By car the picturesque harbour of Solva and bustling community of St. David’s - the UK’s smallest city, are easily accessible. Little Haven can also be accessed by foot along the beach during low tide and is small, friendly coastal village with three pubs close to the harbour and two cafes always buzzing with locals and visitors, as well as several small shops and galleries featuring local art and crafts. The harbour is regularly filled with colourful boats of all types as many sailing and sporting events originate from this beautiful sheltered cove. The market town of Haverfordwest, with all necessary amenities including grocery superstores and a shopping park that includes Marks & Spencers, Debenhams and Laura Ashley, is a short car journey away. Road and railway links to Carmarthen, Swansea and Cardiff are easily and quickly accessible.

The cafÊ/restaurant which can seat 40 inside and 40 on the sunny seafront terrace, is appreciated not only by the B&B guests, but also by the wider local community and tourists who enjoy homemade cakes and superb coffee, a casual lunch, or a relaxed reasonably priced dinner at a wonderfully located, relaxed neighbourhood restaurant. The varied menu featuring authentic Italian dishes made to order include homemade pastas and risottos as well as fresh fish and seasonal choices. Homemade pizzas are made to order and are enjoyed to takeaway or on the expansive terrace where in-house diners can relax listening to the waves breaking on the shore, and also by locals and holiday makers who pop in after a day at the beach, keen to purchase a delicious, homemade, take-away meal for the family. Anchor Guest House and the restaurant have in previous years been operated on a six months, seasonal basis, but from April 2019 due to extended opening hours and the switch to continuing operations throughout the autumn/winter seasons both businesses are experiencing an increase in turnover. The business model is very flexible – operate a profitable B&B in a stunning location working 6 months on / 6 months off, continue as presently run with the added cafÊ/restaurant business, or take it even further to a year round business, by elaborating on the hospitality side to include functions, cookery schools, specialty and/or taster menus, group events etc. The energy within the business is contagious and the opportunity for continued success and future growth positively exciting!

The proprietors employ the services of a Chef Consultant twice a year to create new menu options and seasonal dishes. Working with the professional in-house chefs ensures the success of the new dishes, consistently providing good quality, authentic meals. Many repeat restaurant clients have joined the Frequent Diners Club boasting over 200 members who enjoy wine tasting events and specialised menus.

A team of dedicated, efficient staff that includes a professional Italian Chef, professional British chef and two additional chefs, head waiter, front of house staff and part time housekeepers - all of whom live locally, receive rave reviews from happy guests. This no doubt contributed to the Certificate of Excellence awarded in 2017 and 2018 by Trip Advisor. Many of the staff would be pleased to remain at the Anchor Guest House under new ownership, contributing to a seamless hand over.
