Seller Insight We’ve made so many improvements to the house, from updating the bathrooms and kitchen to redecorating throughout, but the biggest change came with the addition of a huge oak-framed extension. It’s absolutely gorgeous and it’s the room in which we tend to spend the most time. It has floor-to-ceiling glazed panels and French doors, so when you sit in there it almost feels as if you’re out in the garden. In fact the house as a whole has a really nice feeling of connection between inside and out; I think in total we have five sets of French doors that open onto different parts of the garden and the master bedroom has a little balcony where we can take in the most stunning views of the Chiltern Hills.” “The outside space is what initially sold this property to us and it’s been a wonderful environment for the children,” continues Sam. “It was essentially a big field when we came here, but over time we’ve given the garden more definition. We have open lawns, a patio area, ponds and a pagoda, and we also have a fabulous BBQ hut so there are lots of places for outdoor entertaining. There’s also a little orchard, a vegetable garden and when we first moved here we had horses so we had stables built. It’s all very peaceful and private and an absolute haven for wildlife; we see foxes, the odd deer and we have a resident woodpecker. It’s a really stunning place to live and we’ll be very sad to leave.” “I’d probably say that the kitchen is one of my favourite rooms in the house,” says Sam. “It’s a huge, open-plan space with a large island and areas for eating and relaxing, and it’s a great space for a party. And I love the fact that we can all be together, but doing different things, and we don’t get that feeling of being on top of one another.” “The house is tucked away, off the beaten track and a lot of people don’t know it’s here, so we’ve been able to enjoy countryside living with all the convenience of being just a stone’s throw from a lovely little town,” says Sam. “We can walk into Wendover and Aylesbury is just a ten-minute drive away. For us it’s been absolutely ideal.” Just across from the house we have a large triple garage with an en-suite room above,” says Sam. “Our children have always used it as a place where they could hang out with friends, but it could be a great little space for guests, a teen who wants a bit of independence… the possibilities are endless.” “It’s the utter peace and privacy of our surroundings that I think I’ll miss most,” says Sam. “We’ve transformed the house into a lovely family home, but it’s this gorgeous setting that makes it so unique.”*
