‘Universal Religion’ is a true account of the life of hippies and music lovers stranded in the hills of Nepal, right after an earthquake. A portrait of the younger generation is constructed on the backdrop of psytrance music and a dance festival. As the festival gets cancelled, hundreds of adventurers from different countries face a chaotic mess. At the same time a massive earthquake pushes the entire population of Nepal into disorder. The film follows the life of the adventurers in a refugee camp in the Kathmandu Valley. The film also explores the evolution of Hippy Culture in Nepal since the 1960s and their ideologies of love, peace and happiness. It wades through the thought process of hundreds of music lovers in the camp who survive the natural calamity with a wiser outlook towards both nature and universe.
