the gue hospitality, the value of a tradition

Our adventure has started many years ago. Surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, Piè di Costa, whose origin dates back to the beginning of the 20th century, was purchased by the Bracci family in 1978 for the realization of a country house. In 1999 it was refurbished and split in 5 lovely apartments in the respect of the Tuscan tradition. Many things have changed since then. But something has remained unchanged in us: the spirit, the atmosphere, the desire to satisfy those who choose our service, making you feel a sweet nostalgia once you are back home.

Crossed by the Arno river, surrounded by hills of olive groves and vineyards, Florence is one of the most famous and charming cities of the world. The greatest artists like Giotto, Cimabue, Michelangelo, Brunelleschi and Botticelli have left an indelible sign with their everlasting sculptures, paintings and works that have become a patrimony of the universe.

Siena is a city of Etruscan origin, located in the heart of Tuscany and that reached its highest splendour during the middle age. It is still possible to admire today the ancient walls and the structure of the medieval village, constituted by narrow alleys and noble residences, overlooking Piazza del campo, worldwide known because of the Palio.

Pisa is a town of very ancient origins, indeed it was born from an Etruscan settlement, which became then a Roman settlement. The Leaning Tower and the Cathedral are with no doubt among the most important monuments, however also the Church of Santa Maria della Spina is worth to be visited.

San Gimignano, known all over the world for its 14 towers, located in the heart of the Tuscan countryside, between Florence and Siena, at 334 meters above the sea level and on a hill dominating the Val d’Elsa (Elsa Valley). During the middle age, the towers who represented the power and the richness of the noble families were actually 72.

Lucca is one of the very few cities who have kept intact their surrounding walls, built between 1504 and 1645, they have never been used for defence purposes. Today it is possible to admire the Palazzo della Signoria, the Baptistery of St. John and the Church of St. Reparata, where there is the Cathedral of St. Martin.

Volterra is an ancient Etruscan city with very solid walls, the Pretorio Palace and the Priors’ Palace stand out from the medieval little streets. It is an important village not only because of the Etruscan civilization’s vestiges, but also for the production of Tuscan Alabaster, whose artefacts represent today the typical products of the local handicrafts.

The Museum of Ceramics covers a covered surface of 2,100 square meters and an uncovered one of 400 square meters, it is an itinerary leading to the discovery of the ceramic history in Tuscany and of the master pieces of the Italian Renaissance majolicaware.

The Museum of Sacred Art in Montespertoli has a collection of works coming from the near village of Pieve di San Piero in Mercato and from the churches spread around Monterspertoli territory. The museum contains precious paintings, silverware and tapestries recalling the historical importance and artistic vitality of Montespertoli territory.

On a hill overlooking the Valle d’Elsa there is a village, Certaldo, built between the 12th and 15th century thanks to the Counts Alberti, it is surrounded by a wall completely built with pink bricks. Inside the walls there is the Vicar’s Palace, the Church of St. Thomas and St. Prospero with an important fresco of Benozzo Gozzoli.

Vinci is famous for having been the native city of Leonardo, inventor, engineer, writer and painter. Leonardo’s house is worth to be visited, as well as the Castle of the Counts Guidi with the Church of Santa Croce and the museums dedicated to Leonardo Da Vinci.
