F I L A F O R SO L I D A R I T Y It was 1985 when FILA president Beniamino Pettenon started to sponsor the female basketball team, ASD San Martino, contributing to the growth of this local sports association. Since 2001, we have been the team’s main sponsor and in 2013 it achieved its most sought-after goal: promotion into the A1 league. Since 2012, FILA has sponsored the BAMBINI DELLE FATE foundation, which, thanks to funds raised, finances child disability projects through associations of parents, bodies or hospitals: ibambinidellefate.it Sister Guerrina Pettenon, Beniamino Pettenon’s cousin, has dedicated her life to missionary projects, first in Syria and now in Brazzaville3 (Congo). Today Sister Guerrina is building a nursery school, a well for water and is paying for the children’s education. FILA is sponsoring the mission’s initiatives, also through the involvement of its collaborators. These are the main charity and sponsorship activities, together with others, that our company has at its heart.

This is the company division entirely dedicated to supporting manufacturers of floor and wall covering materials, providing a package of services that range from technical analysis to on-site assistance. All with a view to enhancing the characteristics of the materials and preventing unwanted, costly complaints. FILAPRO works closely with the manufacturersâ€™ R&D offices, carrying out analysis in its own laboratories and in collaboration with external research institutes. This leads to the best solutions for protection and care of any ceramic or stone surface. For each solution, FILA also draws up a technical info sheet for customised treatment. The value of the support delivered by FILAPRO is reinforced and complemented by the organisation of training courses for the manufacturerâ€™s technical and sales staff.

F O R M U L AT ION The R&D team develops about 20 projects every year, a third of which are launched to the market. The remainder are improvements to existing technologies or pure research, which creates the basis for future technologies.
T E S T IN G A N D C H E C K S Before being launched to the market, FILA products are tested both in the laboratory and on-site (field tests). Product development is is followed by pilot production to guarantee maximum efficiency of the production process. Various certifying bodies also test the products according to the end use. Around 50 products currently comply with the various ASTM, UNI and DIN standards and this figure increases constantly. Q U A L I T Y C ON T R O L Quality control of the production batches carried out by means of accurate sophisticated laboratory analysis aims to constantly check the quality parameters against product specifications. The goal is to control the production process, attain conformity with requisites specified by the client and lower product NC risks. FILA carries out 2,500 quality controls every year on 1000 production batches.
T E C H NI C A L A SSIS TA N C E The FILA laboratory is in close contact with the market, providing continual technical assistance by e-mail and phone, and inspections all over the world. 4000 e-mails, 250 inspections and 5000 phone calls: these are the figures for client technical assistance over one year.
O B VIO U S R E S U LT S FILA produces over 80 unique formulas, including detergents, water repellent products, stain removers, oils and waxes. In the last three years, we have developed ten new products in the professional line and five in-line treatment systems. Furthermore, treatments in the SOLVENT FREE product range have doubled in the past year.

FILA, Fabbrica Italiana Lucidi ed Affini, was founded in 1943 by twins Guido and Pietro Pettenon with a clear idea in mind: to produce shoe polish and household waxes and detergents. World War II was raging and there was a desire for change and growth. FILA soon became the benchmark company in Italy for the production of high-quality shoe polish, chosen by the Italian army.
The seventies marked the turning point, thanks to the intuition of Beniamino, our current president, and support from his sister Adriana: from household cleaning products to professional products for surface protection. Starting with terracotta, this was the start of research into all floor and wall materials for floors and wall coverings on the market. This was also when FILA released its first press campaign in collaboration with Sannini, terracotta floor manufacturers.

THE VENARIA R E A L E H U N T IN G LODGE
The Venaria Reale hunting lodge is one of the most important Sabaudian residences in Piedmont, and probably the largest. FILA products were used to treat terracotta and wood surfaces in this splendid estate, as part of the renovation work on the Venaria Reale hunting lodge, considered to be one of the biggest restoration sites in recent years, in Europe.
