We use words to describe many feelings, emotions, actions, events, incidents, ideas and thoughts, etc. Often we use certain type of words to describe specific type of feelings. There are words to express both good things and bad things. Using good words and language while talking with people often create a positive atmosphere and is always good for relationships. But there are bad words that describe anger, frustration, depression, sorrow, hatred, etc that usually creates a bad atmosphere. These lead to arguments and fights through verbal disorientation causing bad effects between people. However, this can be dealt with few verbal self defense techniques. In most cases, a difference in opinion or a misunderstanding between two people leads to arguments which can spoil the relationship between them. Such arguments may take places regardless of time, place and environment. In any such event, use of foul and offensive words by one person may cause great embarrassment to the other or it may even spoil the reputation of that person. Even person using offensive verbal language may end up spoiling his/her own reputation. This causes bad effect on entire atmosphere, whether it is an office, college, party or even public places. Convince - When someone gets on an argument with you the best thing to do is convince the person with a solution to the problem that has triggered the argument. Convincing a person requires a lot of patience and one must be calm throughout the process. First thing you must do is stop talking yourself and let him say what he/she has to. Then figure out a solution with which you want to convince him. If that is going to solve the problem that caused this mess, then it will calm the situation
down. But this has to be done as soon as you sense any difference in voice tone and pitch that indicates start of an argument. ď Ž
Divert - Normally a specific topic or a subject triggers the argument or a fight between two or more people. And arguments start when a person does not agree to a particular statement by the other. Extended argument often turns into a fight that may result to insult of one person. If you are the one who started the topic that lead to this argument, then it is always best to stop it by diverting the attention of the person to some other topic or an event. Think of some topic which can be of more importance and interest to that person. Something like, "okay just forget about it, what happened to the new project you are working on". Compromise - If the argument is not ending then it is always best to compromise with the other person. This will definitely stop the argument quickly. Surrender - You might find it hard to surrender to a person who is not ready to stop argument. But if you surrender agreeing he is right, then there would be no reason for that person to continue arguing. This is a responsible move to avoid any complexities.
