Fielding’s Master of Arts in Couples/Marriage and Family Therapy is specifically designed to prepare clinicians for licensure in the core mental health profession of clinical marriage and family therapy (CMFT). Our degree offers four distinct concentrations: African American Families, Latinx Families, LGBTQQIA+ Families, and Medical Family Therapy. The curriculum is designed to meet accreditation standards set by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE). Fielding allows you to study on a schedule that fits with your personal and professional life. Our two-year program combines in-person meetings and asynchronous coursework, two annual residencies, and four approved practica near you. An opportunity to obtain dual-licensure might be available to you. We encourage you to please consult with the Program Director.

PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES §§ Understand the concepts of systems theories as foundational to the

practice of marriage and family therapy.

diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of a wide range of presenting issues across the lifespan.

§§ Develop awareness and understanding of power, privilege, diversity, social

responsibility and social justice, especially with diverse, multicultural, and underserved communities.
