On a current business/pleasure journey to Florence, my other half and I picked, or a minimum of she persuaded me to choose accommodation in a self catered Florence home instead of a hotel. The place was really central allowing us to stroll from the train station, just 300 meters away.We had caught the train from Rome where we live, as it takes only one hour and forty five minutes and saves the tension of driving. We walked to the home in Via Rondinelli, simply around the corner from Via Tornabuoni, the most classy street of Florence, popular for its luxury brand stores. When we met the owner Gianluca at the home, the first thing we saw were the awesome original abundant Fresco's covering the high ceilings, in the master bedroom and the living room, which appeared like they were brand-new - newly painted. Nevertheless we were extremely amazed when he notified us that he had actually taken down the incorrect ceilings throughout the refurbishment, uncovering, purely by chance these magnificent works concealed because the 1940's. Apparently that's when home owners were moving away from the ornate normal Florentine affects towards modern easy lines; we were amazed. Today naturally, it is exactly the opposite, all that has changed back, thank god and the little unique city of Florence is once again concentrating on maintaining and boosting the terrific history of Florence, making the city what it was and what it is today - like no other city on earth. This was also evident as Gianluca was revealing us around this wonderful totally refurbished apartment; all the modern amenities were there consisting of WI-FI and satellite TELEVISION, however the furnishings, the floors, the restrooms and the all over look of the apartment or condo although all freshly brought back and refurnished, appeared to keep the common Florentine taste and ancient heat. The artisans of Florence still exist today and have actually thankfully inherited their skills over generations, which is why brand-new house repairs do not spoil the beauty of the ancient buildings. The antique wooden tables and chairs have been expertly brought back. We unloaded and relaxed, inspected our email, then went to check out the surrounding location. All the well-known landmarks were nearby like, The Cathedral, Battistero, The Giotto Bell-tower, Santa Maria Novella Church, Signoria Palace, The Old Bridge, Uffizi and Pitti Palace were all within walking range, from our Florence house, though on this journey we just had time to check out Uffizi; the popular Medici family landmark, a breathtaking structure devoted to the history of the Medici households private art collection, going back as far as the 1200's. The Uffizi is always a need to see; paintings and sculptures by lots of terrific masters, Leonardo Da Vinci and Botticelli to name just 2. We chose a homely restaurant called Spada simply a few minutes from our apartment for lunch, which was tasty; some proscuitto and buffalo mozzarella cheese followed by riboletta an old Tuscan dish; soup made with vegetables and bread finished off in the oven. The small jug of home wine was a should to accompany the meal.

We decided that lunch and the Uffizi was a huge sufficient day and we did not wish to head out to another restaurant that night. There was a fully equipped kitchen in the house, but no one felt like cooking, so we got a couple of tasty bits and pieces at one of the initial Italian delis on the way back to the apartment; some salami, fresh bread and some exceptional cheeses.Local Tuscan food is hard to beat. We also purchased a DVD (there was a player in the home) and decided to relax, with the delicious local Tuscan food and a bottle of wine which Gianluca had welcomed us with on check in. As quickly as we went into the house with our products, ready to settle in, although we had just invested an hour approximately there formerly, we were "home", this was it, the We had left the heating on, at a perfect 22 degrees, very cosy being available in from the Florence December. We didn't walk past a reception desk, we had our own secrets, took our own lift to our own apartment on the first floor; no idea. Nobody was going to knock on the door to ask if we desired the bed "turned down" - once inside we might do as we pleased and as I strolled into the home for the second time that day, I was actually thinking to myself that there is something about this design of home lodging that agrees with me, it's more inviting, it's bigger and much easier: definitely less costly and it's peaceful. We were actually in control; our own house, even if it's temporary, remaining in this home in Florence feels good, like it's our own, something that not even a five star hotel could ever offer. Jill my spouse was examining her email, I shook off my shoes, opened the wine and tumbled on the couch, extremely unwinded. In the morning we slept late, since we could, there was no hotel dining location downstairs that was serving breakfast till 10 o'clock just and after that you starve. I brought my partner the obligatory cup of in bed and we took our fibnb.com/apartments time preparing, eagerly anticipating a real coffee and a hot wedge of exceptional "frittata" made with eggs, cheese and vegetables at Procacci, the well-known coffee shop, a landmark in Florence, situated in the elegant Via Tornabuoni, unchanged given that 1885, the cafes exterior and interior are precisely as they were, still serving the very best food and wine. The coffee shop was bought by the Italian winery Antinori seven years earlier, not only to sell wine, however likewise to protect and keep this facilities history, like many do in Via Tornabuoni. Residents and tourists alike come here for their breakfast, lunch treats and a glass of wine at night, accompanied by small tartuffo rolls, simply tasty and something that just Procacci can do and are understand for.

It was time to take the train back to Rome and as we were packaging, my partner said to me"well we made the right decision yet once again choosing a house". I tended to agree with her as I was quietly thinking to myself, I am going to miss this place.
