# Bookbinding
Das Buchbindebuch | The bookbinding book | Trotz der Modernisierung, der Erfindung und weiten Verbreitung von eReadern, Tablets und Smartphones sind Bücher immer noch allgegenwärtig. Das Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, zu zeigen, dass man auch ohne Lehre als Buchbinder und teure Maschinen tolle Bücher erzeugen kann, mit Werkzeugen, die beinahe jeder zuhause hat. Den LeserInnen soll das wichtigste Wissen über Material vermittelt und Tipps aus eigener Erfahrung gegeben werden, die das Buchbinden erleichtern. Zusätzlich geben die Mitarbeiter der Schlossbuchbinderei Mohringer—Kober aus Ludersdorf, Gleisdorf, in Interviews einen Einblick in ihren Beruf und erzählen unter anderem, was für sie das Schönste daran ist, inwiefern er sie im Leben außerhalb der Arbeit beeinflusst, sowie ihre Gedanken zur weiteren Zukunft des Handwerkes.
Despite modernization and the invention and wide distribution of e‒readers, tablets and smartphones, books are still omnipresent. The goal of this thesis is to show that even without an apprenticeship as a bookbinder or expensive machines, it is still possible to bind excellent books with normal materials and tools which nearly everyone has at home. The intention is to provide the reader with the most important knowledge about materials, as well as firsthand tips which should make bookbinding easier. In addition, through interviews the employees of the Mohringer‒Kober Castle Book Binder’s in Gleisdorf, Austria, provide insight into their profession. Among other things they describe the best thing about their job, how much their work influences them in their daily lives, and their thoughts on the future of handcrafts.
