MELT for Yoga 4-Week Self-Care Series

MELT 60 – Minute Intro Class The MELT Method, created by Sue Hitzmann, a New York City-based manual therapist who treats musculoskeletal pain and disability, is the first self-treatment system developed for the public that combats chronic pain, improves performance, and decreases the accumulated stress caused by the repetitive postures and movements of everyday living. All participants must be able to get to and from the floor without assistance, since many moves are done on the floor. Pre-registration is required. Space is limited to 12 participants. Wear comfortable, exercise clothes, bring a yoga mat, and water. COURSE DAY DATE

MELT Self-Care Series Students will learn about the common causes of pain and how to minimize or eliminate them by using simple techniques they can do at home. Using the second edition of the best selling book, THE MELT Method as our guide, along with specialized soft body rollers and balls (provided by instructor) students will learn how to reduce inflammation, ease chronic neck and low back strain, improve alignment, enhance athletic performance and keep the whole body feeling great at any age. All participants must be able to get to and from the floor without assistance, since many moves are done on the floor. Pre-registration is required. Space is limited to 12 participants. How do you go deeper in your practice and become more grounded and centered while reducing the risk of injury? MELT is a simple self-treatment technique that works by rebalancing your nervous system and rehydrating your connective tissue, which is all around your muscles and joints. Learn how treating this tissue can improve your alignment, strength, and even your breath. MELT is a perfect complement to yoga, whether you’re just starting or have been practicing for years. Qigong – Rejuvenate your Qi! Qigong (CheeGong) is a gentle form of exercise that can be done either standing or sitting, while listening to music. These Chinese movement forms enhance strength, balance and a tranquil mind. By doing a practice of repeated, gentle movements, you can improve your breathing, balance and posture while promoting healing, happiness and well-being. During the eight-week class you will also improve your flexibility and strength. Please wear loose clothes and flat shoes. If possible, please refrain from eating at least one hour before class.
