ICE CREAM SOCIAL Nothing could be finer in the summertime than a cold, refreshing ice cream sundae. Nothing, that is, unless you can build it yourself from a variety of toppings. The Town of Fountain Hills Activity Center is hosting our annual Ice Cream Social where participants can enjoy their custom-made sundaes in the good company of friends and neighbors. We will provide the ice cream and all the toppings to build your own sundae. It’s a sweet deal made even sweeter because it’s free! Tuesday, August 22 from 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. Fountain Hills Community Center FREE – open to the public. No registration required.
About the Meals • • • • •
The cost of each meal is $7.00 eals are delivered every day by volunteers between M 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Meals consist of a hot entrée and two side dishes in an aluminum container plus a cold sack with salad, dessert, fruit, and milk A variety of seasonings are used in the preparation of the meals with minimal salt being added Diabetic meals are available upon request
New Clients • • • •
Clients choose what days each week they want meals delivered to their home New clients must stay on the program for a minimum of two weeks After signing-up, it may take several days before a new client starts receiving meals If you’d like to sign-up to receive meals please contact the Activity Center (located inside the Community Center) at (480) 816-5226
Teams of two volunteers deliver the meals Each team delivers only once per month Volunteers pick up the meals at Fountain View Village between 10:45 and 11:00 a.m. with a time frame of approximately 1 to 1.5 hours for delivery Volunteer opportunities are occasionally available for those with time to give to this rewarding program
Donations Please donate to Home Delivered Meals to help subsidize and maintain the cost of meals for residents in need of meal assistance. Donations may be tax-deductible. Can you picture your life without your mobile device(s)? This summer, the Technology Learning Center of Fountain Hills (TLC) volunteers will share some handy tricks to improve your tech know-how (skills). All classes are free and open to the public. No Activity Center or TLC membership required. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required.
Are you smarter than your TV? Your modern day digital television set is a complicated device, but it has some really cool features that you never thought about. We’ll explore the menus on your TV and see what smart things it can do. We’ll review what makes a smart TV and what to do if it isn’t. We will also discuss the latest news about smart TVs tracking what people are watching and what that data is used for. Pre-registration is required. COURSE DAY DATE

Personal medical research using apps and the web The use of the Internet as a source of medical information has become increasingly popular as the public goes online to visit the 100,000 + healthrelated web sites. During this class, we will explore favorite websites and health apps that boost our fitness, medication and general health knowledge. Pre-registration is required. COURSE DAY DATE

Taking beautiful pictures with your smartphone camera Most of us underestimate the capabilities of our smartphone cameras. Our handy tips will help you take photos that easily capture the essence of the moment. We’ll review the menus and settings for special features; practice how to zoom in/out, take advantage of face detection, take movies, panoramic photos, and of course the “selfie”.
