ADULT DANCING CLASSES

TAI CHI

In this class students will learn the rumba as well as simple box patters. This class will be great for learning rythem while using easy steps coordinated to all different types of music. Students will also learn the basic fundamentals of lead and follow. Why walk when you can dance?

The course emphasizes the governing concepts of this healing art by using Yang style of Tai Chi. The soft ever-flowing movements can be described as “meditation in motion.” It is total exercise, one that encompasses the body, mind, and spirt. Tai Chi aids in stress reduction and the enhancement of vital energy. The class is ideal for those suffering with hypertension, arthritis, and any body imbalance.

ARCHERY

Beginning Archery Ever wanted to learn how to shoot a bow and arrow? Here’s your chance! In this class, you will learn the safe and proper way to shoot a compound bow. The instructor that teaches the course is a trained instructor through the National Archery in the School’s Program as a Basic Archery Instructor. The instructor will teach you the 11 Steps to Archery Success by using a string bow, then they will let you shoot at a target using real bows and arrows. Bows, arrows, and targets are supplied. You do NOT need to bring your own. Archery is a very safe sport and as long as you follow what the instructor says, you will have an enjoyable experience. Men’s Slow Pitch Softball League Men’s Slow Pitch Recreational Softball is played at Golden Eagle Park with 6 double headers and an end-of-the-season single elimination tournament. Softballs and umpires are provided. The tournament champions will receive t-shirts. Team managers’ meetings are scheduled as needed. Come out for fun, fellowship, and friendly competition! Registration deadline is Thursday, May 2. All bats will need to be approved and have a sticker. Minimum of 4 teams needed for league to run. Email Bryan for league rules at bbouk@fh.az.gov. YOUTH SPORTS CAMPS

Ball Handling & Basketball Shootout Camp If you’re between the ages of 6 and 18, you like basketball, want to learn the game or improve your technique, are willing to work hard and you want to make friends and have fun in the process. Advantage Basketball Camp is for you. All skill levels are welcome, this camp will be geared toward beginner and intermediate players who want to develop skills, or any basketball players who simply need to learn the value of self ­discipline, practice, and enhanced self-confidence. Community Services has once again partnered with Advantage who was named by Sports Illustrated for Kids as one of the top basketball camps in the country. Our students will build on their ball handling and court awareness skills by learning lightning-quick, one-handed moves off the dribble and a whole lot more.
