Calligraphy

American Sign Language Class will focus on conversational American Sign Language, finger spelling, vocabulary, and sentence structure. Instruction will also be given on practice skills that students can do at home with use of a computer. Space is limited. Preregistration required. COURSE

Learn how to use the calligraphy pen and layout guidelines, as well as make basic strokes and patterns, and how to construct letters. Students will make greeting cards with art work, labels, name tags, and table name tent cards. Calligraphy can be enjoyed both by you and the reader. S­ tudents will need to purchase and bring their own pencil, ruler (a r­ olling ruler is ideal), and calligraphy pen set to class. Instructor recommendation is Sheaffer Calligraphy Mini kit (#SH/73403) available to purchase on Amazon or at art stores. Bring supplies to first class. Space is limited. Pre-registration required. ACTIVITY CENTER

Your Brain is so much more than memory! In this program, learn about the different domains of your brain, such as cognition, language, attention, visuospatial, executive function, and, of course, memory. By starting with a discussion of the difference between ‘normal aging’ and something more serious and a selfassessment, the Brain Health class can act as your “personal trainer” by teaching you activities to aid in strengthening domains that you want to improve. Introduction to Qigong

Rejuvenate Your Qi. Learn ancient Chinese movement forms to develop your hidden energy. Qigong is a form of gentle exercise. This practice of repeated gentle movements can heal and maintain wellness, happiness and long life. Standing or sitting while listening to music, these Chinese movement forms enhance strength, balance, and a tranquil mind. Please wear loose clothes and flat shoes. Class is open to all levels. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required.

Wednesday, January 24 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. This event will showcase the various programs, support groups, classes, presentations, and services available at the Activity Center and the numerous volunteer opportunities available with the Town, local clubs, churches, and organizations. Attendees will have an opportunity to interact and mingle directly with the various activity groups, clubs, churches, and organization representatives. The Expo will highlight special events the Activity Center and the Town have scheduled for the year. In addition, there will be tables laden with goodies and refreshing beverages. This is an opportunity to renew your Activity Center membership or join for the first time. FREE – Open to the public
