Es kommt nicht auf die Größe an It is not about the size Das muss ihnen erst einmal jemand nachmachen: Neben ihrem Studium Bauingenieurwesen – Baumanagement sind Markus Hörmanseder und Philipp Hüttl mit ihrer Idee eines leistbaren Tiny House für obdachlose Menschen in die Startup-Welt eingetaucht. Nach einem gewonnenen Pitch zogen die Studierenden in den Start-up Corner der FH Campus Wien ein: die Geburtsstunde von Liberty.Home.
A truly unique solution: In addition to their studies in Civil Engineering and Construction Management, Markus Hörmanseder and Philipp Hüttl have plunged into the startup world with their idea of an affordable tiny house for homeless people. After winning a pitch, the students moved into the Start-up Corner of FH Campus Wien where Liberty.Home was born.

Den ersten Prototyp realisierten die Studierenden durch Material spenden und mithilfe von Sponsor*innen und Partner*innen wie der FH Campus Wien. Wichtig dabei war, dass für den Bau ausschließlich Holz und recyceltes Aluminium verwendet werden. Das Micro-Wohnkonzept sieht auf einer Fläche von 10 m2 Kochnische, Schrank, Dusche und Klo im Erdgeschoß vor. Das Bett ist oberhalb des Sanitärbereichs und über eine Leiter zugänglich. Geheizt wird mit Infrarotheizung.
The first prototype was realized with donated materials and the help of sponsors and partners such as FH Campus Wien. What was important, was to only use wood and recycled aluminum for the construction. In an area of just 10 m2, the micro-living concept provides a kitchenette, cupboard, shower and toilet on the ground floor. The bed is above the sanitary area and accessible via a ladder. It is kept cozy with infrared heating.
Social Business hilft Obdachlosen
Liberty.Home is primarily for the homeless. Markus Hörmanseder and Philipp Hüttl: “We were driven by the personal desire to make a positive contribution to the development of society. With Liberty.Home, we want to set an example of solidarity entrepreneurship and in an innovative way help as many homeless people as we can.”

Markus Hörmanseder und Philipp Hüttl: „Der persönliche Antrieb kommt von der Perspektive, einen positiven Beitrag zur Gesellschaftsbildung leisten zu können. Mit Liberty.Home möchten wir, als Beispiel für solidarisches Unternehmertum, auf innovative Art und Weise vielen obdachlosen oder wohnungslosen Menschen helfen.“
Volle Tiny Houses – voller Erfolg Um dieses Sozialprojekt zu finanzieren, sollen die Tiny Houses gewinnbringend an Unternehmen – etwa als Unterkunft auf Großbaustellen – und Privatkund*innen verkauft oder auf Musikund Sportveranstaltungen vermietet werden. Seit 2019 sind Markus Hörmanseder und Philipp Hüttl daher mit ihren „kleinen Häuschen“ auf Eventtour durch Österreich, um Liberty.Home zu vermarkten, und die Resonanz ist durchwegs positiv. Ob als Künstler*innengarderobe, zum Übernachten für Festivalgäste oder als Rezeptions- und Servicestation genutzt: Die Liste der Festivals, bei denen die Wohnqualität im Tiny House erlebbar war, war heuer ordentlich lang und zeigte, wie vielfältig die Häuser eingesetzt werden können.
Klein, aber oho Die Tiny Houses schützten unter anderem bereits Stars wie Sido, Krautschädl oder Folkshilfe vor ihren Auftritten beim Sound Everest Winterfestival am Hauser Kaibling vor Schnee und Kälte. Auch Parov Stelar, Headliner des Elwood Music Festivals, logierte vor seinem Auftritt im Tiny House und zeigte sich von der Unterkunft begeistert. Die Gäste, die beim Festival in die kleinen Unterkünfte einzogen, gaben ebenfalls durchwegs positives Feedback.
Social business helps homeless people

Whether as an artist’s wardrobe, accommodation for festival guests or as a reception and service station; the list of festivals where the living quality of the tiny house could be experienced this year was quite long and showed just how diverse the uses for the houses can be.
Small, but impressive The tiny houses have already offered shelter from the cold and snow to stars such as Sido, Krautschädl and Folkshilfe at their performances at the Sound Everest Festival on the Hauser Kaibling. Parov Stelar, headliner for the Elwood Festival, also stayed in a tiny house prior to their performance and were delighted with their accommodation. The festival guests who moved into the small accommodations at the Elwood Festival also gave consistently positive feedback. Among other things, the
