_xààxÜ yÜÉÅ exz|ÉÇtÄ W|ÜxvàÉÜ Greetings Fashion Group Members! This is a BIG month in the fashion world! Fashion weeks around the globe will be commencing shortly showcasing the hard work of the talent leading this industry. Living so far from a large-scale fashion week is painful. Thank god for YouTube, twitter, and Facebook which allow us on the West Coast to see the up and coming minutes after being shown. Note to self: September 8-15 I will be glued to my computer. West Coast fashion, although intriguing, doesn’t excite me the way NY fashion does. Let’s not even discuss what Parisian fashion does to me… Each Spring and Fall I have a visual-love-affair with Karl Lagerfeld and Tom Ford. I’m anxiously looking forward to the weeks ahead! Big things are happening locally as well as internationally. FGI San Diego is gearing up for our Fall events. The Maker Place event (September 13) is sure to offer DIY’ers an exclusive opportunity to see how their at-home projects can grow to full-scale production! Our Professional Development Day (October 20) will excite students and young professionals on what lies ahead! And our Spring/ Summer Trend Report is always a fantastic event. This years Holiday Party is sure to excite as well. Stay tuned for more details! FGI San Diego is looking to fill a few Board Positions in the coming months. Get more involved! Serve on our Board of Directors! Email: fgisandiego@yahoo.com if you are interested in any of the positions below. • • • • • •

Hello, hello!

_xààxÜ yÜÉÅ Xw|àÉÜ

It’s hard to believe that September is already here! Where did our summers go? I hope yours was as amazing as mine was! But all things must come to an end and the same goes for summer. In French, every September, they say “Bonne rentree”, or literally, “good re-entry” and after a long and fun-filled summer, it is indeed time to re-enter our lives including our fashion ones. What better way to do that than to enjoy an evening out with friends and fashion this coming Thursday (September 6th) for Fashion’s Night Out. An international (That’s right! It’s international now!) night where the shopping community gets together to celebrate the glory that is fashion. San Diego has all sorts of amazing things going on. Check out page 7 for a list of where to go and what to do. Another re-entry is FGI San Diego’s blog! If you haven’t seen it yet, please go check it out! It is so chic and on track to become THE fashion authority blog here in San Diego. On page 9, you get a chance to meet our two bloggers and I just know you’ll be as impressed with their backgrounds as I was. And as FGI San Diego took the summer off of events, our re-entry event is one that you do NOT want to miss! MakerPlace is one of the unknown gems of San Diego. Within the walls of the West Morena Blvd business is truly where dreams come true. If you can dream it, then at MakerPlace, you can make it! Reconnect with your fellow FGI members and reconnect with your inner creativity. Until next time...

VxÄxuÜtà|Çz VÉâàâÜx exvtÑ The Globe Guilders Fashion Show, one of the premier fashion events in San Diego, took place on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012 at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel. Proceeds benefited the artistic and education programs of The Old Globe, which reach over 300,000 people annually. This year’s event featured, for the first time on the Celebrating Couture runway, world famous designer Monique Lhuillier. The event included a seated luncheon and a fashion show featuring Lhuillier's 2012 Fall Couture Line, presented by Neiman Marcus. The designs of Monique Lhuillier captured the essence of sophisticated luxury by provoking the femininity, allure and glamour that have made her renowned in the world of fashion design. Her innate sense of style and understanding of a woman’s desire to look and feel beautiful were prevalent throughout her collection. Celebrities such as Catherine Zeta-Jones, Beyoncé, Faith Hill, Reese Witherspoon, Eva Longoria and Sofia Vergara frequent the Monique Lhuillier salons in New York and Los Angeles and grace red carpet events wearing her designs. FGI San Diego’s own Regional Director, Julie Fought, was co-chair for the event along with our Secretary, Jeannie Haddox. Diana Cavagnaro was there for press. We are so excited about our partnership with the Globe Guilders and look forward to many, many more fabulous events with them!
