THE WOUND’S NAKHANE WINS BEST ACTOR
IT’S all happening for multi-talented local singer, actor and author Nakane, who recently scored Best Actor In A Foreign Film award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival in California. The Wound d features Nakhane as a gay factory worker on his traditional Xhosa circumcision ceremony journey. In addition to this achievement, he has been signed by international management company Paradigm Talent Agency. International acts such as Ed Sheeran and Coldplay are also signed to this agency. He has also been signed to Coda Agency, which operates in the UK and Europe. The film, which is also known as Inxeba, and which is now one of nine movies nominated for the Oscar’s Best Foreign Film awards for 2018, has also won Best First Feature at BFI London, the Audience Award at Sydney nternational Film Festival, Best Director and Best Actor at Durban International Film Festival, the Grand Jury Prize at Outfest Film Festival, and Best Foreign Film by the African American Film Critics Association. The director of The Wound has also won acclaim and has been signed to Creative Artists Agency in Los Angeles, which boasts directors such as Ava DuVernay (Selma), Barry Jenkins (Moonlight) and Steven Spielberg (The Post).
