The Ferrybank Market On Abbey Road Goes From Strength To Strength! The Ferrybank Market on Abbey Road started its existence on the 2nd of December, 2011. Since that time, it has become a favourite venue for Ferrybank residents each week. (Please note that the fresh fish stall finishes at 2:00pm so we’d recommend getting down for your fish as early as possible on a Friday.) As well as a great selection of fresh fish, there is also a very popular Fruit & Veg stand. Each week you’ll find some great special offers there. One very popular offer is the ‘Any 3 Items On This Stand For €5.00 Special’. Don’t miss out on that great value! Mary Doherty of Granny Maddock’s Pantry has a fantastic selection of cakes at her stand. How’s this for choice? Orange Almond, Almond Nut Slice, Coffee Sponge, Chocolate Biscuit Cake, Blueberry Cake, Raspberry and Cinnamon, Millionaires Shortbread, Plum Cake, Meringues, Raspberry and Almond Flan, Toffee and Pecan Nut Cake, Raspberry and White Chocolate Cheesecake and Carrot and Orange Cake. Now, if that doesn’t tempt you, I don’t know what will. The Ferrybank Market sellers would like to take this opportunity to thank all of their loyal customers and look forward to seeing you again soon. Remember, parking is free at the market and you’ll get great value too. While visiting the Ferrybank Market, don’t forget to visit O’Neill’s Butchers where you’ll find a full range of meats available. Also, check out Abbey Precast. They have a ‘Massive 25% Sale’ on at the moment.

Are You Interested In Opening A Stall At The Ferrybank Market? Due to the popularity of the market, the organisers would like to include some other stands selling different products. (Please bear in mind that it’s only possible to have one business per category selling at the market. For example, one fresh fish seller, one cake stand etc.) To find out more information about putting a stand at the market, please contact Gemma O’Neill on 087 689 9938

Just a Thought… What we need to hear more of in our communities and in Ireland at this time, are positive stories. Everyday ‘doom and gloom’ seems to dominate our airwaves and newspapers and is creating an air of fear. When we become afraid we lose clarity, focus and direction. In many ways we can become frozen by the fear. However, with a slight shift in our thinking we can create amazing positive changes and be part of creating a ‘positive story’ in our own lives, our communities and our country. Fear and a negative mindset stifles creativity and innovation, for example both in life and in business, people being put off doing something because they are afraid of ‘failure’ or because they had a previous negative experience and lost confidence. To begin to change fear into confidence and create a ‘positive story’ takes a shift in mindset. This doesn’t have to be anything big or too challenging, just consider for a moment, what can happen when we give our energy and attention to thinking positively. Right now think what it would feel like to be confident, really give energy to ‘being confident’, if you choose, write down your thoughts and feelings. Simply ‘doing’ this moves attention from ‘not doing something’ to ‘doing something’. Confident thoughts nurture confident feelings, which create a change in mindset to approach a situation with a change of attitude. This connects us to our creativity, which allows new and fresh ideas to come to mind and opens up new possibilities to explore. Fear like anything else doesn’t have power unless we give it power. We can begin this moment, today, to create positive stories. Bernadette Phillips MA. B.Soc Sc. Dip. You might not be able to see the entire picture, but the advice is that you focus on what you see before you. Work with that, rather than jump at shadows. Discover that in spite of a slightly blurred picture, a pattern really is emerging. And an opportunity for growth and fulfilment will be found. An opportunity for a short break away emerges during this month.

Discover that though things might have been a bit complicated in the past, it doesn’t have to continue in that fashion – maybe look at certain difficult relationships that create more problems than they solve. As a home-loving person you are concerned about priorities in your living space, wondering whether to spend the money on the bathroom, the kitchen, or the Kids.

March 21st – April 20th

April 21st – May 21st

Be prepared, if someone continues to take advantage of your good nature, to cut that person adrift. Maybe let them know that you will always be there for them – but attitudes and mind sets need to change before normal service can be resumed. Halloween isn’t that far away, and you will need to be prepared for some interesting surprises.

Don’t take anything for granted as the next few weeks unfold, and take care to check any mail that comes via the letterbox – or the web. Stress, we are discovering, is one of life’s major challenges. Yet we are encouraged, particularly in work, to embrace it as a good thing. It isn’t – and you, if you are in business, need to find some ‘chillaxing’ time.

May 22nd – June 21st

June 22nd – July 22nd

As we move toward the back end of this year you are beginning to feel like a child in a toyshop – so many things to do, parties, fireworks, Christmas - so many games to play. And you are spoilt for choice as you survey those unused weeks and months. It is quite exciting, isn’t it?

This could be a time where new people are coming into your life, bringing with them a much needed breath of fresh air as they seem to be speaking in a language you can understand (for a change) The next couple of weeks might also create moments of real clarity in which your future direction can be confidently planned after several months of beating about the bush.

Learn that life can never be what it used to be. We can never be young again – love can never be as fresh and exciting as once it was. But, if we can know that, and absorb the lessons we have learned of our passing days, then we have the ability to just give ourselves some time to catch up and allow life to grow into what it needs to be.

Odd little arguments might just get in the way – but if handled diplomatically, the air should be cleared fairly easily. Somebody though, will need to get down from their high horse. There is also a sense of restlessness about you this month – as if you want to kick over the traces like the rebellious schoolchild that once you were. Maybe still are, in a private way?

September 24th – October 23rd

October 24th – November 22nd

You cannot solve the problems of the world, but you can make a start by looking at your own. Dealing with everything in the order of their priority, then, when that is accomplished, and not before, you can extend your efforts outwards – for that is how it works best. Yes, start locally and sort out what you can control. Then move on to bigger things.

Sometimes we need more than information to assess a particular situation – important as that might be. First we need to learn to rely on instincts, gut reaction, before we can react to anything. And you, especially are going to need all your wits around you during the course of this slightly unsettling, but quite rewarding month.

Somebody who wouldn’t usually take any heed of horoscopes, might well be idly perusing these words to see what this strange addition to this monthly newsletter has to tell them. Discovering, as the months unfold, that perhaps that there really are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of in our various philosophies.

There is a feeling you are about discover, that you are not actually indispensible to others no matter how much they try to persuade you otherwise. And possibly, in learning that, you will find time to look after your own issues and needs – your health, for example which could probably do with a bit of a check up. Is The Limescale In Your Water Supply Causing You Problems?

051 830 555

As you know, since the water supply was changed in Ferrybank, the Limescale content has gone really high. In my own case I’ve had to change a lot of pipes in the house and the main boiler had to be replaced as well. From what I understand, the problem is not going to get better. Have a look at the EW Technologies information in this issue. Their solution definitely looks great and they’re running a great offer too. What’s really interesting is that they have over 500 happy customers and have already installed their system in Ferrybank homes. We asked Oliver Ginty of EW Technologies if he could send us some Ferrybank customer comments and he sent us these. (Oliver sent us a lot more, but because we hadn’t the space, we’ve only shown two. If you’d like the full list, email us on or call us on 086 258 3456 and we’ll be glad to give them to you) “The limescale is totally gone from the house. Now all my appliances are running perfectly. The FREE S2000 drinking tap is great.”

John Wallace, Brochton Grove, Ferrybank, Waterford

“The kitchen sink draining board was very dull and full of limescale and that has improved greatly and now has a shine again. The taps and sink in the kitchen are limescale free and a lot easier to keep clean. Our skin and hair are much softer as well. Top marks for a job well done.”

Ger O’Byrne, Dunromin, Ferrybank, Waterford

Members of the Green Team Back Row: Isaac Power, James Freyne, MJ Sutton, Olivia Keoghan, Dearbhla Kearns Front Row: Eoin Cleary, Iona Heffernan, Caoimhe Kearns, Anne Hayden, Pierce Lonergan

The ceremony started with a soulful rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow sung by Lydia Everett and Megan Butler. It closed with the Earth Song which was sung by Sam Galvin and backed by the Abbey choir. The 5th year music class also provided a drumming instrumental for the raising of the Green Flag. To celebrate the raising of the flag and the releasing of old, wasteful habits, 250 biodegradable balloons were released, to symbolise the skyrocketing success of the Green Schools Committee. The success of the Green Schools Project at the Abbey is due to the phenomenal work of the 50 strong Green Schools Committee along with Ms Connery and Ms O Connor, who co-ordinated the whole operation for the past two years. NEW 100% LIMESCALE REMOVAL PRODUCT RECEIVES 98% CUSTOMER SATISFACTION RATING IN RECENT SURVERY EWT’s revolutionary new unit removes 100% of limescale - No Scrubbing! EWT started developing their high efficiency GOLD SERIES water softeners over 2 years ago with their manufacturing partners, in order to develop more efficient LIMESCALE removal systems suitable for Irish homes, as before all units were larger softeners mainly designed in America where incoming water mains are generally in their basements. Almost all of EWT's high quality water softeners and Iron removal units have now also received the prestigious Gold Seal Certification from the Water Quality Association (WQA). The WQA Gold Seal Certification Program represents the oldest third party testing and certification program in the drinking water treatment industry. In a recent customer survey carried out by award winning IRISH Water treatment company EWT, 98% of customers that responded gave the company 10 out of 10 for their new GOLD Series Water softener system. Customers were asked to rate the overall quality of experience they received from EWT representatives from installation of their Gold Series system which removes 100% of limescale from your home water supply, to the initial contact with the company.

"We are absolutely thrilled with the fantastic feed back we are receiving from our customers about our NEW Gold Series system", said Daren Weidner, EWT's European Customer Service Manager. "Over the last 10 years we have invested heavily in not only product development but also in state of the art computerized customer management systems which allows EWT to keep up to date with customers' needs through text messaging services, emails and telephone.
